Lets pop in this bitch! Dragon Quest IX, baby.

I'm giving my ps3 a break since I was busy with LBP today, so instead of playing my other gifts, I'll start with Dragon Quest IX on the DS.

First of you create your character, choosing between only a handful of options for hair, the face, skin, etc. Some of the face types you can pick are hilarious. They range from the generic Toriyama hero face to the emotionless Chaozu-esque face.

After that, you put down your name(I put 'Simba", hehe) and start the game. You play as a guardian(angel so to speak) watching over some town. Each time these guardians guide and watch over the people, they get some crsytalized form of benevolence which you take to the great tree, Yggdrasil so it can bear some special fruit.

Apparently something odd's happening now and some major shit's probably going to go down soon.

Lucky! Haven't played since VIII.

What's cool is how lengthy this game's gonna be for me. Besides the main story, it apparently has tons of side-quests. Not only that but because I got the game quite a while after its release, there must be a lot of those wifi quests for me to catch up on.

'Kay, done a bunch of stuff now. Had to deal with some Black Knight called the Wight(yes, "wight")/Right Knight cross over to the afterlife and then had to help some town get rid of some disease.

Then I finally make it back up to the place where all the Celestians/Guardians lived and now I have to go back down to Earth and find all the fruit I spoke of earlier that fell from the sacred tree.

They need to make another console DQ. VIII was amazing

I can't believe i traded that game in, it was amazing I loved the visuals, they didn't even need many special effects and the game pace was awesome. It was between that and Nocturne that were my fave RPGs of that time I think DQ8 is on top for overall experience though.

I am actually gonna play this when i leave and get back to my apartment. Have you guys ever done an all fisticuffs team? I want to try it out but I heard you don't get any great skills to you max it out.



Also some of the music in One Piece (the funi dub at least) reminds me of the music in DQ VIII. I can't explain why at all.

I liked how huge the world was. It's still pretty big in DQIX too, the map is separated into areas though but it isn't like the old games'(and their remakes) maps where you're like a giant roaming on a flat surface.

The music itself is a bit of let down. It has returned to the more whimsical style of the older games' soundtracks as opposed to the classy, calming score of the previous game. That and since our English releases of DQVIII had an orchestral version for most of its score, seeing the next game lacking that is a bit sad(although understandable, being on DS and all) too.

How do you think I feel? I doubt I'll ever bother with a Wii so I'll be missing out too.

The Wii ruins video games for me yet again.

I heard Armada of the damned got picked up again but there going to sell it on the wii as they thought the audience was more appropriate.

I cannot put into words how much Nintendo has fucked up videogaming for me.

I hate how they make game sequels nintendo exclusive suddenly meaning I miss out on gems don't get me started on the gamecube which had almost no merits.

Having a Wii doesn't mean I enjoy playing with that awful remote.

Alright, did a lot now. I've gotten three of the seven fruits now, almost got the fourth. Hopefully the main plot isn't actually done when this fruit fetching stuff is over with. Even so, the post-game content is actually far longer than the main story anyway.

Speaking of post-game stuff, I downloaded a bunch of new quests(that I can't activate yet of course) from wifi. I also got a bunch of guest characters from the other games in the series to visit this inn. What's cool is that after you speak with them, they give you their costumes. I've gotten the girl in my team wearing Bianca's clothes and the main hero wearing King Trode's. I'd give another character Angelo's but the stats of his suit is a little less than what everyone else is wearing.

Almost finished the story now. I'm up to the last dungeon.

I'm looking forward to completing some grottos that contain bosses from previous games like Psaro, Estark, Dhoulmagus and Rhapthorne.

I found a copy at Wal-Mart, Didn't buy it (Fuck the price for being more than I could afford at the time.) but really got interested just for the CAC. Funny enough, I was eyeing up Sonic Colors at the time, But I think I'll get this instead.

The CAC isn't anything to be proud of. But the game itself is fun.
