I also think there is a basis in acupressure i think there actually are points to rub depending on your mood or something. Hell there's meant to be a point in your body if you cut it extends your life span by a few days, thats considered fact. I'm talking in reality here btw.

There's pressure points for stuff like emotions and what not, accelerated healing on the other hand is not.
