Firmware 3.40/Playstation+ is live

12 months for £40 or 90 days for £12. Free content this month is Wipeout HD, Destruction Derby (PS1), Age of Zombies and Fieldrunners (Minis), as well as discounts on DLC for LBP, Savage Moon, Fat Princess and Killzone 2. Also some discounted/free/exclusive avatars and dynamic themes.

Now that I'm actually getting a look at this, I think the most appealing thing to me is the free Minis, just because I would never actually pay full price for them, but some of them look good. And it would give me something fresh to play on my PSP each month. Obviously, the annual subscription is where you end up paying for them though. And to be honest, if all I got from PS+ were the Minis, it would probably cost less just to buy them normally, depending on how many of them I get.

I'll have to get this the week after next, it does sound interesting, though.

Do you actually get wipeout for free or is it just one of those play it for one hour dealies?

It's the whole game for free, not just a trial version. Although technically I suppose it's a rental, since you can only play the free games you download while you still have an active PS+ subscription.

i doubt i'll get a subscription anytime soon, unless something i really want happens to be a freebie.

This whole commitmen t thing seems a bit annoying

The free stuff is only free for a month too. So next month you'll have to pay for Wipeout again whether you have PS+ or not, and some other game will be free. Which is really just a way to get people to subscribe as early as possible as far as I can see.

I have to admit, Sony have really covered their bases with PS+. Given that they already have a very a decent and completely free service, they're really trying to get people on board early and keep them there.

Also, any games you download for free can be redownloaded for free after their free offer period is over, as long as you have an active PS+ account. So if anyone gets PS+, they might as well just download everything and then delete what they don't want right now. Then if you feel like trying it later you don't have to pay.

We get buggered by the exchange rate once again. A year is $50, which is about £34, but we have to pay £40.

You get 3 months extra for free when you purchase a 12 month subscription, so it's 15 months for $50. You don't get a 3 month free trial.

Europe doesn't get that at all though. Our opening offer is a free digital copy of LBP1.

I am considering getting this though, but honestly until agame i really want is on there i dunno if i can be assed. We'll most likely get shit games. Or stuff i already own.

Plus games work like any other game. Any account on the console can play them.

na you only get plus on the account that bought it as i'm in england i can only use my credit card on that. If i want to get an american one i'll need to buy a bunch of PSN cards. I'm actually tempted to do that.

I haven't noticed much difference between the EU and US PS+. My US PS+ still has a couple more weeks on it too.

Oh thats what you meant the only thing alts can't play are timed trials of full games.
