| Having finished my spring semester of college, my aunt has given me permission to get one new game. However, I can NOT get a game that I had put on my birthday wishlist, so Red Dead Redemption, War for Cybertron, and the Mass Effect games are sadly out of the question. Besides them, however, anything you guys care to recommend?

| If you haven't already played it; Saints Row 2. Over the top fun with a kick-ass Create A Character. Not to mention that once you complete all the right activities, Your guy is pretty Rambo gone Gangster...You can actually unlock infinite ammo for MOST of your guns (One of the three DLC's unlocks the infinite Rockets perk that is missing from the vanilla version.) Falling to death being a problem? No problem! Just activate the parachute diversion, Land on the bullseye perfectly. And you'll unlock a perk that makes you invincible to falling to death. ...I could go on about the neat shit in that game, But I'll let you find out the rest of it...Should you choose to get this game that is. | |

| Eh... I've seen a lot from Saints Row 2 and I don't think it's my forte. I like freeroaming and faffing about and whatnot, but I really don't care for the whole gang aesthetic of the whole thing. | |

| ...Well, Yeah, It does have alot of that. -_-
There's also Red Faction Guerrilla. Same company that made Saints Row 2...Only you're liberating Mars from a Nazi-Wannabe Military Group. So, No gang shenanigans here.

| Again, not to my tastes. It feels... sorta bland.
Anybody have any PC games to recommend, maybe?

| Yakuza 3 interests me even less...
On second thought, though, I might give Saints Row 2 a chance. Question is whether or not to get it for my PS3 or get it direct download for my PC. My main concern is sugarcoating the premise to my folks so I can get it; I can probably cover over it verbally, but I'm a bit leery about the game's own verbal content. I don't want to lose face on account of Mom stumbling into the room before a profane tirade.
Basically, I think the PS3 version may play a bit better, but I can wear headphones for the PC version. Thoughts?

This, so long as your parents don't mind violence. Have you played Uncharted 2? That's an amazing game that they should have no problem with.

| Both Bioshock games are awesome, and you've got the choice of platforms as well. You've got great graphics, genuinely memorable environments, heart-in-mouth set pieces and they're both pretty scary in moderation. Granted, they're violent games and let you do horrible things if you so wish, but either of them keep you hooked throughout the 10-15 hour playtime. Heck, get them both; they're cheap enough now. | |

Have you played Uncharted 2? That's an amazing game that they should have no problem with. Ergh... look, they're not THAT conservative! Anyhow, I just don't care for the God of War series. Besides the fact that it more or less RUINS my favourite mythological figures, I just find the gameplay really tedious. As for Uncharted 2, I've never played the original game and from what I've seen of it, it doesn't catch my eye.

While I don't doubt that these are good games, I unfortunately don't think they are good games for me. I like the aesthetics, but the horror aspects are a bit much for my tastes.

i'll just recommend batman What-a-what-a-what now? Okay, I follow that you recommend Arkham Asylum, but what was that about Saints Row 2? By the way, it would be me paying for it. I have a shit-ton of credit at EB Games as it is.

| I think Buu was under the impression your folks would be buying the game for you.
So he's saying make them buy a newer game and buy SR2 yourself as it would be pretty cheap now.

How old are you again? It has nothing to do with my age. My family just has a tradition to not buy anything for ourselves (as in games, DVDS, etc.) when Christmas or one of our birthdays is coming up; it's to prevent oneself from buying something that may be a potential present. My aunt is giving me an exception to the rule, but isn't allowing me to attain an item that was explicitly mentioned on my birthday wishlist. Still, I might hold off on making any specific purchases. My mom is on a business trip right now, but when she comes home, I'm going to see if I can convince her and my aunt into giving me a present early... more specifically, the already spoiled Red Dead Redemption by way of Mom foolishly indicating at the preorder bonuses. I've already gotten two of my presents early already (the second and third seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender) AND my Mom is planning to take me to see the The Last Airbender in theatres on opening day, so I'm going to try and see if I can convince them to simply let my birthday be a more gradual event taking place all summer...
