The 'Case Zero' prologue on XBL was really good. Yes, it's a lot like the first, but if it ain't broke...

I'm really liking this game, it's quite similar to the first so if you play on 360 you might want to wait for a price drop but anyone with a PS3 should at least give this a rent.
It still has the strict time limits but, as before, pretty much nothing is compulsory so you could spend the whole game mindlessly killing zombies to get a bit of a leg-up for New Game+ if you really wanted to. According to Gamefaqs the first 72-hour segment equates to roughly 6 hours of real time which, although it seems short at first, is perfect for a game like this which is designed with multiple playthroughs in mind. It's almost impossible to complete everything in a single run and you'll probably restart a couple of times (keeping all your experience, money and unlocks as well as your outfit) so I'm guessing this is around a 20 hour game if you want to 100% it.
The loss of the photography system is both a good and a bad thing, I liked it for novelty purposes in the first game but the fact that it was the only efficient way to level up annoyed me, you get more experience from kills this time around and all the crafted weapons have at least a 2x experience multiplier on them so it's a bit easier to unlock all the attacks now. The crafting system is pretty good although you're left guessing as to what things to put together until you find a recipe card. You really put McGyver to shame when you build a lightsaber out of a flashlight and a bag of assorted gems. I'm still at the start of the game story wise so I don't know much about the overall plot but, on the whole, Chuck seems to be a lot more likeable than the old guy (Frank?). The new area, 'Fortune City', feels exactly like the mall in DR1, it's technically a new map but aside from a couple of casino areas it's incredibly similar. I'm disappointed that they didn't put a bit more effort into making it actually feel like Vegas.
I haven't tried out co-op yet as I refuse to play with random people but the competitive multiplayer is alright, although I much prefer the singleplayer. It plays a bit like that Gladiators gameshow except with zombies.
TL;DR, it's a good game despite being very similar to the original, give it a try if you like zombies and/or sandboxes.

I do wanna buy this but i'm not sure if i wanna fork out 40 pounds for this. A 6 hour game isn't all that long for me. Although multiplayer is always a good thing and may mean i play more then once.

It isn't just six hours long. It's designed for repeated playthroughs, because it'll be impossible to do everything in one. A lot of the fun of the first game was just wandering about at random and finding stuff going on, like survivors or psychos. It's a great game for just dicking about in.

Can you give me a clue about the combat? Do you feel like your doing damage and is there decent variety in moves?
Yakuza is probably the only game i've played more recently where you really feel like your doing damage. Obviously the fact zombies break up normally makes that a given in games involving them.

combat isn't much like yakuza. it is more similar to saints row without being able to run and gun while fine aiming.
there are special moves you learn as you level up and they are use by pressing a direction and a combination of buttons

There aren't that many hand to hand moves that I know of, you're supposed to play around with whatever you can find in the area. The items you can use range from absurdly powerful, like the spiked baseball bat or the 'claws', a set of boxing gloves with bowie knives attached, to the utterly useless, like bags of gems or the giant foam hand. A lot of the melee weapons have two attacks, one will usually just hit a zombie and the second will use the item in a unique way, for example when you have an umbrella you can either jab zombies with the end or use it as a battering ram and charge through crowds.
As far as the 'feel' of doing damage goes, you'll feel strong when you're killing zombies but the bosses/psychopaths usually have obscene amounts of health, there's almost no realism in this game so something you might expect to do loads of damage might be worthless.

Played a bit more of the competitive multiplayer today so I can talk a little more about it this time.
While it's not as good as playing the story co-op, it's a lot of fun if you just feel like letting off steam outside of the timed story mode. There are a nine game types, of which three will be randomly chosen for you to play before finishing off with a motorcycle based game. Most of them involve killing zombies in some way but there's a lot of variety in the methods, in one mode you might be rolling around in giant hamsterballs trying to crush as many zombies as possible while keeping the single powerup on the map for yourself while in another you could be competing to make zombies look ridiculous by dressing them in a tutu, flower hat and ride-on horse stick toy.
I did, however, get the feeling that it might become a bit of a novelty over time, unless new content is added through patches or free DLC I don't think it will last as long as a game with deeper multiplayer.
TL;DR: Multiplayer is good, albeit a bit shallow and not as much fun as singleplayer or co-op. Doubt it will last as long as more multiplayer focused games.

Goddamnit, I just ran out of time when I was 30 seconds away from an objective and got a bad ending. At least I was only around 3/4 into the story, plus I unlocked a load of stuff and got to level 31.
