I went to see this last night

I'm hardly familiar with Star Trek, but I fucking loved the movie. It was action packed, with a small side of humor too. It also appealed to fans of the series as well.

How do I know that? Because there was ton's of stuff that my dad knew, and I didn't know (He's a big Trek fan). So that's another plus side.

The only part of the movie I have a big problem with is the scene with Young Boy Kirk driving an old car down a road. Seriously, it was the most pointless scene in the film. It didn't explain anything, it didn't have ANYTHING to do with the plot or even explain anything about Kirk... well maybe except for the fact that he's a delinquent, but that's it.

Actually, I'm pretty positive that the scene was there solely for advertisement (The whole Radio Cell Phone machine was Nokia, and then a Beastie Boys song started playing.)

So yeah, fuck that scene. But everything before and after that is absolutely great. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I saw it a few days ago... took my mom to see it as part of an extended Mother's Day present; I also took her to see "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" as well (she is SUCH a Hugh Jackman fangirl... >_>). I thought it was pretty good, although there are miscellanious gripes here and there that I can make. *cough*toomuchlensflare*cough*

Actually, the Kirk and the car scene was actually there to explain to the Trekkie's that the timeline had changed due to Kirk's father dying, so they wanted to show that Kirk was now a deliquent by doing this.

Also, I did like this movie too.

Well, it was pretty obvious that he was a delinquent from that Bar Scene

The car thing was just there because Abrams wants his damn money from Nokia

Just saw it. I agree wholeheartedly with Raditz.

I saw it yesterday. I did enjoy it a lot, especially how it immediately messes up the timeline just to throw everything off (and to show ST geeks that even they will now have no idea what's coming), but it was missing a final epic space battle, and Eric Bana was a little underused as Nero.

The cast were all excellent too.

You talk too much about your mum and her interests. It's getting a little weird.

He had the smallest role out of the the Trek regulars, and was really only there as comic relief, hence he came across as being the weakest link of the bunch. He wasn't bad, but had the least to work with and was a little one dimensional.
