Playstation 3 "Home" Beta.

Don't ask me how, because I have no idea, but somehow I've managed to get myself a spot on the Beta testing for Sony's next big thing. Interestingly, the terms and conditions state that you must not discuss Home with anyone who isn't also "a triallist", and it is absolutely forbidden to discuss it on any internet forum or chat room.

If anyone pays any attention to that, I'll be amazed.

So, anyone else manage to get in on this?

It's Sony's new big thing. It's like an internet forum in a sense, only you interact via avatars, and you can hang out in shops, or in your own virtual appartment.

A little like Second Life, only slightly less nerdy. Just as pointless though.

No, no, it's terribly exciting, and it will revolutionise the social aspect of our gaming. At least, that's what it says when you sign up....

In all honesty, and as you can probably tell from my comments above, I'm not that fussed about it either. Still, it's a Beta, and it might mean some of my feedback actually makes a difference.

I've only spent a few minutes with it. I'll give a more through evaluation once I've put it through it's paces.

It's fucking boring, it's like Grand Theft Auto without the guns, cars, violence, sex, excitement, and... fuck it's pretty much just walking around a very small plaza with a bunch of sex offenders asking you how old you are.

Yeah, NXE is pretty good isn't it? That's partly why the avatars on Home feel so lacking, NXEs avatars have many more options, meaning you really can make a half decent likeness of yourself. Home's avatars are horrible, godless monsters.

Apparently you can now kill zombies in home, i'll try and find details later.

If you guys haven't been on Home since the beta you'll find it drastically different. You can play games made specifically for Home and stuff (for a price). It's actually quite a cool concept but nothing I'm overly interested in.

The only reason I've ever gone on home was to play chess there tbh.

There's some massive update for it coming soon or something.

I only do it when I'm really bored and then it's just to fuck with guys trying to pick up guys with problems so they have girl avatars and be creepy. Then I yell homophopic slurs at them until they sign off. It's a hard job but someone has to do it.
