GASP! SACRILIGE! the perma-death made it the game series it was.(and in FE-whichever had eliwood, hector, and lyn- hectors guard COULD die and you'd still get to use him later. hector and the knight are in the tent and he asks if he could still aid them in battle, the guard says yes)

I was pretty young; actually LOSING a character got me pretty emotional. I've considered trying it again, BTW.

Actually, what bugged me the most was that I was trying to recruit this one, apparently valuable guy in the middle of a battle, but the only way for me to do so was to take this one girl (who I found to be USELESS) to him; I got super-frustrated trying to accomplish that task, as either my best warriors would die, the girl would die, or the guy I was trying to recruit would die.

I can't remember the name of that particular game. It was on the GBA and had something to do with royal siblings.

Ahh... Fire Emblem... My second favorite franchise, after Pokemon.

I own all four of the ones that have been released worldwide so far, and I have FE3 and FE4 on my laptop. Though I've been putting them off for a while.


Of the four that I've played, I rank them:

Blazing Sword/FE7 = Path of Radiance >>> Radiant Dawn > Sacred Stones


I still haven't finished Sacred Stones, even though I bought it at the same time as PoR two years ago. But I'm working on it.

dunno which one it is its just called fire emblem IIRC
i got sacred stones but haven't bothered playing it yet as everyone said it was crap

Fire Emblem, as it's called outside of Japan, is the one you were talking about. It's the 2nd GBA FE ever made.

Sacred Stones is the 3rd GBA FE. It's not a bad game, but it's among the worst in the series, because it's too easy, the story (from what I've played so far) isn't too great, and the map allowed you to backtrack and level-grind, something not seen in the series since Gaiden.

The first GBA FE is Sealed Sword/Sword of Seals/Binding Blade (as Brawl calls it). It stars Roy, and was only released in Japan. Though I think it should have come out to the world, since it continues the story that Fire Emblem left off on.

There are English patches available for it online.

That's actually how most people played it.

Well, if there's no other way to play a game like this...

If it weren't for the patches I wouldn't even have touched FE3 or FE4.

though some people do try and play games in foriegn languages
i doubt i could manage it
especially if its not linear

I've only done that with three games: Jump Superstars, Jump Ultimate Stars, and Bleach DS 2nd. And that's only because you don't really need any knowledge of Japanese to play them.
