there's a fan remake of Fatal Fury as a beat'em up:
They seem to have done a bunch of others i might check some of these out later.

Though techically not a remake, it is a fan made "Hey, what if Nintendo actually got off their lazy asses and made Mother 4?'
I love the idea of it and hope it succeeds. Worst scenario, Nintendo calls cease and desist.

On another note that sonic HD remake is back in progress, the original had DRM because one of the programmers went rogue they had to restart from scratch, but the projec is in motion.
