It may, the Ps2 was released in 2000 then the Ps3 in 2006.
Thats 6 years, and it'll be 6 years that the Ps3 has been out on 2012.

It does go exactly against the whole 10 year plan of the ps3, but the PSX was around for 10 years, the PS2 has been around for 10 years. Maybe they will release the PS4 just with continued support for the PS3.

I think it would be a very stupid thing to do. Compared to the PS and PS2 it took a good while for the PS3 to maintain the steady course it's in right now. It would be kind of stupid of Sony to just announce a new console coming out next year especially with the Vita already being lined up as their big thing to carry over into 2012.

I'd say give it a few more years, maybe until 2014 for a new PS console.

Sony also have to repair their reputation a bit before releasing a new console. After the PSN fiasco and all this anti piracy bullshit, I'm pretty sure that if Sony released a new console next year, it wouldn't be as successful as it could be.
