http://www.siliconera.com/2010/07/24/cowboy-bebop-anime-writer-expresses-frustrations-with-industry/

Quote :
Sato questions whether the audience is even interested in taking a deeper look into stories that creators put out. He feels the general audience is losing its ability to understand the meaning behind narratives that they experience. That works with a focus on plot and narrative are passed up in favour of those with an emphasis on cute characters and no real plot progression.

It has become a problem most recently, I think. You could say it is currently the "Moe Era" now, beginning sometime last year, I believe. The major focus has definitely been shifted to "cute characters doing cute things", even to the point you might find non-moe anime with at least ONE moe character to keep some, if not, most viewers interested.

The man's right, moe anime tend to be slice-of-life/comedy anime, and those have little to no plot progression.

Sounds like Azumanga Daioh even though I enjoyed it. There wasn't much story progression at all and a ton of odd timeskips.

This is obivously a joke, as ass-backwards as Gainax is, even they wouldn't be stupid enough to do this.

Spoiler:

Title: Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt
Director: Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann's director)
Character Designer: Atsushi Nishigori (Gurren Lagann's character designer)
Chief Animator: Yoh Yoshinari (Gurren Lagann's mecha designer and key animator for Gurren Lagann episode 1 and 27)

The story is about 2 angels named Panty & Stocking who are sent to Earth to deal with ghosts. Panty not only loves sex, she also loves explosions, guns and causing mayhem. Stocking loves sweets, cute things, rock music and blood.

HOW CAN THIS OVER THE TOP CRAP NOT BE EXTREMELY HILARIOUS AND ENTERTAINING?!

You can not make Moe shit funny or sexy because it's just fucking stupid like anything from K-On or Lucky Star.
