</embed></object><br /><br />Watched this last night. It's pretty good, although far from magnificent. Mainly because, while the film itself is fine and the stories carries you along perfectly while it lasts, when you reflect on it the whole premise seems rather weak. It was also not quite what I expected. The "big reveal" comes about halfway through, and for the rest of the film you're wondering exactly where it's going and half expecting another twist which never comes. The first part of the film sets up some stuff which also never really pays off, and is really only there to trick the viewer into thinking certain things. <br /><br /><dl class="codebox spoiler"><dt style="cursor: pointer;" class="spoiler_title">Spoiler:</dt><dd><div class="spoiler_content hidden" hidden="until-found">What I mean by that is that during the first section of the film, Sam is clearly seeing stuff and imagining things. This whole idea completely vanishes once the the second Sam arrives and the main chunk of the story gets underway. The only reason I can think of for it being there in the first place is to cement the idea in the viewers head that the two Sams is just one Sam having a breakdown. Even though this is revealed not to be the case about halfway through the film.<br /><br />The premise seems weak because you start to think why such a massive company, providing energy for 70% of the planet, would only have one friggin' base crewed by one friggin' bloke. It just seems ridiculous, and the flimsy "they're a company, they want to do things cheaply" excuse brought up in one line in the film doesn't really satisfy. </div></dd></dl><br />So in the end it feels a little disjointed and inconsistent. But it's still a decent sci-fi film that I'd recommend watching. A solid 7/10.
