It is, because it's DIFFICULT and they do become smarter whether you believe it or not. Them changing move sets is not a new game it's them becoming more unpredictable.

i personally think its laziness on developers part and it reduces replay value

How? Because the enemies don't punch you in a different way? Because they don't throw a kick after they punch you? It's not laziness you just think that changing up a fighting style is difficulty. That's like saying Gen from Street Fighter is difficult because he has two fighting styles, he's unpredictable not difficult. After you're hit by something unpredictable once, chances are you're gonna be ready for it the next time.

its not unpredictabliilty

for example your playing DMC on hard your upgraded, now they change lifebars, the higher difficulties didn't feel all that different to me as i was stronger an d by then better at the game

surely if i'm upgraded and have a new game + the enemies should have learned something

and seriously its not unpredictability the moves were harder to avoid fighting patterns change

if your playing tekken and crank up the difficulty combos and moves you wouldn't have seen in lower difficulty settings would be there
the life bars haven't changed and its a helluva lot harder

you make it sound that improved AI does not effect you what so ever
god of war effectively works on the principle that you will get bored/complacent/lose concentration because same moves against an enemy who couldn't hit you before might get a lucky shot in if you fight him for twice as long

Yes it is. When you go into that difficulty how in the fuck are you supposed to know the enemy isn't going throw their usual change-up?

That's the reason God Hand is easier. Because most of the enemies you fight one on one can be dispatched pretty easily in one-on-one combat. The only reason it would be hard is if you were surrounded by other enemies in which case you're fucked because barely any of the techniques are made for fighting multiple people at once, in which case we've reached Ninja Gaiden's false sense of difficulty that involves you dying because you get ambushed every five seconds.

I love God Hand, but to say that it's more difficult than DMC is a lie.

Yes, but even when you have every ability the bastards are still tough. Especially when you're in the room with those three projectile monsters and they're flying back away from you every time you attack and god knows Ebony and Ivory are virtually useless in DMD mode.

Are you seriously comparing the difficulty setting of a fighting game to an action game?

Because the AI has improved. They dodge more, know when to take open opportunities to counter-attack, and are rather careful about your magic attacks.

my point was move changes were more then just unpredictablility, it isn't just an extra low or high attack it was something different that had to be avoided altogether

if we're talking about larger energy bars i don't think it matters what type of game we talk about as you seem to think larger life bars is a valid difficulty setting

if the fighting game had larger bars i.e. like in SF2 then yeah this is a very valid form of argument >_>

And the enemies becoming more resistant to attacks where it becomes nigh-impossible to make a decent combo to deal good damage, them smashing through your health, knowing when to dodge and counterattack.

Those are also nice bonuses especially when bosses like Vergil make the game unbelievably difficult by how much damage they can do in a basic combo.

It's not a valid form a of argument when you're comparing a god damned fighting game to a hack n' slash game.

These are two completely different genres.

Not really. They were planning DMC for the PSP a while ago and I was genuinely excited for that. The idea was scrapped though, so a bit of a disappointment on my part.

Oh well, hopefully they'll pick it back up.

i wasn't complaining about parts of game being on one console thats fair enough

but the whole shoot em up genre has moved to portables

last decent shoot em up i can think of was metal slug anthology on ps2

i'm not hating on the portable market but when you have certain genres not on certain machines just seems pointless

It's a fucking side-scroller. It's understandable how it's moved to portables. But it's not like they don't make console versions anymore. You don't see them only putting older Capcom and Sega games on Portables they do release console versions, it's always going to be like that.
