The fact that you can't guard in a certain direction to stop opponent's charged attacks.

That's because they're all aimed in one direction it's no longer blocking in other directions.

His whole story is a big ass mess. It's like he didn't even think it through after DB.

It's remarkable how coherent it is considering how it was written.

Story wise, DBZ was fine up until the Buu saga. About halfway through that, AT seems to try and drag it off in a few different directions yet seems to have no confidence in his own work hence the whole thing feels disjointed when he keeps introducing and then almost instantly getting rid of the likes of Gotenks / Gohan and some forms of Buu.

DBZ was fine up into the Android Saga, The Android Saga was the worst with all of this future bullshit being inserted.

It pretty much went like this in terms of quality.

Freeza Saga
Saiyan Saga
Buu Saga
Android Saga

At least the Buu Saga had interesting antagonists and was fun, the only good that came out of the Android saga was 18 and Gohan's character development, Cell was just downright boring.

And I hate the story mode so much. Unlocking things in this game is a horrible chore.

Shit hit the fan during Cell Saga. Trunks was the shittiest waste of space ever. They could've easily cut him out of the equation and the Cell saga would've been exactly the same.

Goku's heart diease was useless time waster anyway it should've never been there, and Kami fusing with Piccolo was a huge let down.

especially as things changed so much

freeza was gonna be killed by goku so that was useless for trunks to intervene

So I'm now at the #17 vs. Piccolo fight and instead of talking about controls and cameras and how terible ther are I will talk about something else.

Script

Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time in dubbed Dragon Ball history the word ki has been used! Rejoice! It only took us 14 years to get there, half of which the word has actually been used, but not spoken out loud.

Aside from that, the script ranges from good to great. Like Baal already posted, the Hope of the Universe speech has been omitted, but for some reason they almost omitted Son, which is weird, because it was in Burst Limit and it is Goku's NAME.

Another minor thing is the pseudo-swearing. Yes, it's a kids show. Yes, it's a shonen. But this game is rated T. Which stands for Teen last I checked. So why is Freeza saying DARN YOU all the time. It's annoying. Piccolo and Vegeta say damn and hell in the game, so why not the rest of the cast? Because Piccolo and Vegeta are hardcore badasses and only hardcore badasses can say damn? I don't know.

Also Teen Gohan. FFS change the name already.

But the rest of the script is fine and cool and stuff.

"Ki" was said verbally in Budokai 2 in one of Piccolo's training crap, so it only took them 6 or 7 years lulz. I don't see why energy couldn't of still been said though, it's the same thing. =P

Nappa just said the Z crew were 'pissing him off'. So there's no excuse for Freeza to say darn, other than the fact that he says it a lot in the dub anime. Maybe they felt it was in character?
