I thought just crossed my mind...
As we all know, Saiyans receive zenkai boosts when they suffer near-fatal wounds. Do diseases count as "wounds"? Goku was pushed to the brink of death by the heart virus, although he recovered thanks to Trunk's antidote. Did he receive or should he have received a zenkai boost from the ordeal?

Saiyans only receice zenkais from battle wounds.
Goku's heart virus was "internal" so to speak and probably falls under the same category as self-harm (which Vegeta said wouldn't cause a zenkai).
