I just watched this film for the first time. And it was okay. Eh... Perhaps it would have had more impact and seemed better had I not previously seen the much more recent Jarhead, which is pretty damn similar except set in the gulf war.

i'll rate this later but i would say this isn't a particularly good army film
it pales in comparison to films like platoon
however it was one of the first films to have a hilarious drill seargeant

FMJ is one of the all time greats, and I'm not even a Kubrick fan.
