Actually there could be an update coming up where they will let you play against 360 owners and Vice Versa.

The only way I can see it happening is if Namco sets up it's own independent servers for the game, and each console gets big bulk of new software. The PS2 version of FFXI could go online with the PC version because they both used the same servers.
