| Oh yeah. And if you have some PS1 and PS2 Games you don't need a memory card to save the data. It makes an internal memory card and uses the Hard Drive for data storage. | |

| Just buy one off the net.
Or try to find one used at a Gamestop.

| I know I'm late here, but, ignoring the massed ranks of the Xbox haters, there actually isn't much to separate the 360 and PS3.
Here's a completely unbiased breakdown;
Price;
The 360 is a good bit cheaper, in the UK at least, starting at £130, compared to £300 for the PS3. Even the top spec Elite is only £230, with a couple of games thrown in.
Features;
It's worth considering though, just why there's the price difference. The PS3 has built in wifi, the 360 does not, requiring a further purchase to enable wireless online. It costs about £60 in the UK, although shopping around can get that down. I got mine for £35. Still, that's a pretty hefty sum.
Also, the PS3 has Blu Ray built in, straight out of the box. It's not the best Blu Ray player by any stretch, and if you're a real film fan, and you happen to have a 1080p HDTV, then you'd want to get a dedicated Blu Ray player anyway. For the casual film watcher though, it does a perfectly acceptable job. The 360 does have an HD DVD drive, which can be found for peanuts, but with the format war seemingly won by Blu Ray, future releases will be hard to come by. That said, HD DVD is on par with Blu Ray in terms of quality, and HD DVDs themselves are also very cheap now. My GF picked up all five Harry Potter films on HD DVD for a combined total of £25, whereas the Blu Ray editions would cost that each.
On the subject of HD, I believe I'm right in saying that the PS3 doesn't come with an HDMI lead, and of the 360 packages, only the Elite does, so for maximum graphic / sound quality, you'll need to invest a few bob into a decent HDMI lead.
Games tend to be £5 or so cheaper on the 360 too. No idea why.
PS3 also has Bluetooth built in, and an internet browser, so you can surf via your PS3, should you so wish. The 360 has neither of these features.
Online:
Xbox Live silver is free, you can download demo's and whatever else for free. However, if you wish to play online, then you'll need a Gold membership, at a cost of £40 per annum. The PS3 online is completely free.
Again, don't think that automatically makes the PS3 the better choice. The PlayStation Network Store is sparse compared to it's Xbox equivalent. XBL Marketplace has a far greater selection of things to download, including films, TV Shows, and so on. It also seems to get multiformat demo's sooner, and have more content for them. For instance, DBZ Burst Limit was on XBLM three weeks before it was on PSN, and if you wanted extras for Soul Calibur 4, then XBLM has a much better selection than PSN, which is doubly annoying as I bought the PS3 game.
Personally, I still think XBL is the better service, although it depends how much time you want to spend online. A 360 owner would need to be reasonably sure that they'd use Live on a fairly regular basis to make it worthwhile, whereas a PS3 owner can dip in and out without worrying about it. Also, consider what your friends have. If they all have a PS3, and are all online with that, then it'd be silly to go for the 360, and vice versa.
The controller:
As far as I'm concerned this is a non factor, yet it comes up in a lot of 360 vs PS3 debates, so here it is.
Ignore the PS fanboys, the 360 controller is better in just about every way. It feels nicer, you get rumble built in, something only recently introduced to the PS3, and the analogue sticks are far superior.
The Bundle;
It's confusing isn't it? There have been 3 PS3 variants, and 5 360 variants, released on this side of the pond since launch, and even then, they're not the same as in the US. Check what you're getting for your money. In the Uk, only the 60GB PS3 is backwards compatible, and as a result, even though you can only now find them pre-owned, they command a premium over the lower 40GB and even the newer 80GB models. The 360 is entirely backwards compatible, although that seems like less of an issue seeing as the PS2 utterly crushed the xbox in terms of sales.
The basic 360 packages though have no hard drive, only a 512mb memory card, and some of the earlier 360s have no HDMI input.
Basically, do a little research before taking the plunge, and check that the package you're after can do what you want it to.
Reliability;
Yes, the 360 suffer from the three Red Rings of Death. However, it's not like it does it every five minutes, I've had my 360 for four years, and I've only seen it twice. In both cases, it was just through over-use (blame Oblivion for that!), and unplugging it, and allowing it to cool down, fixed it.
The PS3 isn't perfect either, it's frozen a couple of times, and only turning it off at the mains has been able to un-stick it.
It's also worth mentioning that my 360 has been more reliable than my PS2, which suffered at least a dozen breakdowns and Disc Read Errors before finally giving up the ghost.
Games;
This is the category that matters, really. Both systems have largely the same selection of multiformat titles, although, for some reason, in many cases, the 360 game tends to be superior, having slightly smoother graphics. Fallout 3 and Bioshock are the latest example of this, and older examples include things like Assassin's Creed.
What'll really nail it though, are the exclusives. Want to play Fable 2, Gears of War 2, etc? Then you'll want a 360. Want Resistance2, LittleBigPlanet etc? Then you'll want a PS3.
Simian's conclusion;
Honestly, you can't go wrong with either of them. I have both, and couldn't choose one over the other with a gun to my head.
Speaking of which, I'm still going to sell my Wii. It's an entertaining diversion, sure, but I hunger for real games, not real games ruined by a lzy developer throwing in unpolished motion controls for the sake of it.

| PS3 looks cooler and much more classy than 360. And that's what matters the most. | |

| The price drop for the 360 is another good point. The freaking PS3 is still about 500 bucks. But then again, paying for the 360's online play is just going add up to the same amount. <_<
Damn money hungry companies..and yes. The PS3 does look a lot more classy. |
