Naruto must be very popular in the UK or something

I always see the DVD's in HMV and stuff, but almost no other anime series gets the same space. Naruto's on the shelves, on the displays, it's there when you walk in in the little special offer section, it's everywhere. Same for the manga, although to a lesser extent. At least with manga a lot of other series are still stocked. But Naruto still gets more shelf space and more copies of each volume.

Fucking little kids and their attraction to cheezy and goofy nerd poses done by anime characters to look badass.

yeah. they need to make an anime starring Tim allen and rosie o'Donald. that would be epic, AND I'm sure people would forget all about naruto.

the reason they're taking up so much space in the store is because no-one buys them. therefor the salespeople bring them to the front to promote sales

If no one buys them then they wouldn't stock that many. It's been that way for at least a couple years. It's not like a clearence sale or something.
