Moar action-RPG than Platformer, imo.

Doesn't matter much, though.

I love Symphony of the Night regardless if it was on the PSX or the PSP. Then again, I always loved the series in general since I first played Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (NES) long ago.

It's a 2d platformer with rpg elements.

Holy Fucking Shit! I got this game on my PSP...AND I COULD JUST AS EASILY GET DRACULA X CHRONICLES!!! IT HAS BOTH PSX & SATURN ELEMENTS!!! FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

But yeah, The PSX version is still epic none-the-less.

I bought a copy of this back in early November of kind of a birthday present to myself so I could replay and complete it...
Wasn't disappointed in the least and this was a perfectly good sequel to Rondo of Blood in my eyes.

I really enjoyed it and its definitely one of my favourite castlevania games. In all honesty though I like most castlevania games.

Harmony of Despair, aria of sorrow and symphony of the night are probably my faves though.

I plan on grabbing the PSP version (Dracula X chronicles), as I haven't played rondo of blood.

Hey, I agree about the series overall.
Though AoS and HoD are ones I'll try pretty soon when I can.
SotN and Rondo of Blood are on my favorite games list for sure.
I have the Wii VC download for RoB and bought a copy of SotN a while back last month.
Love it.
It's artistically delicious.

Okay, in my efforts to beat the game in my lowest overall playing time with 200.6% and without speed-running, I have found that the wolf powers are the most useful until the second half before just flying over everything.

As awesome as this game is, it has one thing I'm glad the following games discarded;
As you grow more powerful, you receive lesser and lesser XP points from the same types of enemies.
Yorick for example (skeleton kicking skull) starts at 1,000 XP, next level you receive 987 XP, and the number keeps dropping.

See, I'm fine with that, because it makes me look for other grinding spots.
And I don't even grind at this game unless it's for an item.

And even that's rare because I like to limit myself for a challenge.

It makes it kind of tedious to level up.
On the plus side, it's nowhere near as bad as how it's done in Harmony of Dissonance, in that one once you get past level 30, even strong enemies give you 1 XP point per head.

Eh, the only time I'd think to level, is if I had the starting equipment, and the mermen to take on for a few minutes.
