The next installment in the KotOR franchise...

...will be an MMO.



This may be old news because there's been speculation, plus the fact that I read it in print (i.e., my newest issue of Game Informer).

I'll quote the most important parts of the article:

EA is not bad.

I don't think EA had anything to do with the game's planning or development since BioWare was only recently bought out by them. EA merely made the announcement.

Yeah. It's still a BioWare game, just EA gets to keep the profit afterwards.

I don't know anything for sure regarding platforms.

PC seems obvious. Xbox 360 is likely since the first two games had Xbox versions.

Yeah, but it was owned by Microsoft before. Now, if they're putting it on ANY console (I figure there's a good chance of PC exclusivity, though >.<), they *could* put it out on PS3 also.

Anyway, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a PS3 version yet.

BioWare was owned by Microsoft before, but now EA owns them, so they *could* put the game out for PS3 now. Before, that would NOT happen, no matter what.

BioWare was never owned by Microsoft. They were an independent developer until EA bought them out.

BioWare developed the first game, which was published by LucasArts. Obsidian Entertainment developed the second game, which was also published by LucasArts.

Microsoft probably did pay for exclusivity rights, though.
