DBZ episode 35

Japanese title: “Cause a Miracle! Son Gohan, the Super Saiyan”
English title: “Mercy”

General stuff:

Goku’s reasons for letting Vegeta leave have been changed completely. Let’s compare:

Original: Goku lets Vegeta leave, because he sees a rival in him. Killing him would be a huge waste and the saiyan inside of Goky won’t allow such a thing to happen. He promises he’ll take care of Vegeta alone next time.

Dub: Goku lets Vegeta leave, because he wants him to see what mercy is. He lets him live because maybe one day he could be one of their allies.

So in the end Goku’s original speech is very in-character for him, while the dub speech is a message to all the kiddies (be merciful!), not to mention the huge forboding (maybe he’ll help us one day!).

- Kuririn, Mayumi Tanaka, uses the word “nakama” in this episode.

Great dub episode! 10/10.

DBZ episode 37

Japanese title: “Mysterious Yunzabit! The Search for Kami-sama’s Spacheship”

General stuff:

The meaning of the words Piccolo and PiccoloDaimao are never told in the dub. Piccolo means other world and Piccolo Daimao means Demon King of Another World.

Verdict:

9.5/10

ok i remember watching dbz as a kid and then a few years later i remember vegeta sounding very different. i don't remember how the others sounded though

In the dub there is no mention of the fact that Vegeta arrived on planet Freeza 79 18 days after leaving Earth.

Does this episode name sound familiar? Maybe it’s because it’s THE SAME GODDAMN NAME AS 2 EPISODES AGO. I MEAN HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU EVEN BE STUPID ENOUGH TO MAKE SUCH A MISTAKE.

GAWD.

Name changes:

Lychee is changed to Raytee in the dub. Zarkuro is Zakuro. But the real question is: are they friends or foes? FRIENDS OR FOES?!

This episode marks the introduction of one of the most ruined voices in all of anime: Freeza.
God, how I hate that voice.
