Castlevania Cartoon announced, dunno why the youtube guy is calling it an anime thats very misleading especially when the team behind it made fairly odd parent.
I'll admit I'm curious.

Well, there's the fact that anime is often made outside of Japan, too. I'd say that's what Alpha meant if you look at a comment he made that went on record about that.
But regardless, yes, an animated Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse adaptation has me curious, too. Namely since something like the Rondo of Blood/Symphony of the Night arc or the first two games with Simon would be more expected on the agenda as far as adaptations go since those are more well known. And this is seeing as guys like Simon, Richter, Alucard, Soma, etc. are more "mainstream" than guys like the cast of Castlevania III would be besides Trevor to some degree would be seen as.

Is anime not by definition Japanese animation? That's always been my understanding of it.

Technically, I'm sure that's what it is and I'm misunderstanding the concept. However, the way I see it kinda includes anime-esque animation such as Legend of Korra, Last Airbender, or the Teen Titans series in the early 2,000's to name a few. And that's just from someone that's only really seen a few Japanese cartoons like Cowboy Bebop and scraps and fragments of other ones in passing. So it wouldn't surprise me if this was meant to be called Anime-influenced or something akin to that.

"Man, that manga adaption of the manga was really shitty. I hope the theatrical manga tie-in is much better than this piece of merde."
Spoiler:
Jokes aside, I think the animated material is labeled as "manga anime" when they need to differentiate their cartoons and comics.
The French are currently on a secret mission to take the take the word "anime" back by getting into the country's industry and taking it over from the inside:
That or ouiaboos are getting their way and they're one step closer to make this a reality:

And Sok to the rescue. Thanks for clearing that up. I myself always called everything a cartoon or comic of some kind unless I got harped on to call it something else seeing as I always considered cartoons to be a "spectrum", if that makes sense. Really, always saw it as a semantics thing.

That is pretty odd choice of people to make Castlevania cartoon.
But it would be nice to see an adult cartoon that isn't just a comedy series. I think a good adult action cartoon is needed (I am sure we have some, but nothing memorable from what I can recall)

This is more than half of the reason why I look forward to it other than being an avid fan of the series. The fact it's not a comedy, and aims at being an adult-themed, animation mini-series is what got a lot of my attention after having the read the article in the description of the video I started the thread off with.

I think you guys are being difficult, my main point was due to the youtuber just calling it anime based on absolutely nothing:
Lets also not forget that the guy actually making the cartoon didn't call it anime, neither did the site reporting it, the guy working on it just called it a mini series. The youtuber is just calling it an anime. If this ends up looking like fairly odd parents with some ketchup put over it I feel like the programme being called anime would seem a lot more ridiculous.
Watership down is pretty freaking grim and has blood, death and ghosts. We don't call that anime on the sole basis it has violence. Neither would we call any of the DC animated movies anime just because they have blood and death. So sure I guess I could accept calling things anime if they're made outside of japan if we're talking a style, but we don't know what the style of this is yet.

Well, touche there. On a note relating to the series... would anyone else be okay with seeing characters quote some of the games when the moment seems appropriate? Y'know, like Symphony of the Night quotes for Alucard, Death, Trevor if he were to channel some of Richter's lines from the beginning of that games, Dracula, and whatnot? I think that'd be a cool throwback for a mini-series meant to pay homage, actually.

If its the actual character and done well in context that would be great if its just randomly plonked in to satisfy the fans i hope not.
I do really like it when you watch something and you can realise how much the writer loves or knows the source material.

I'm definitely leaning towards the idea of the context doing that well just for the sake of making a nicely done homage in lieu of just a baseless reference.

Trevor meets Alucard, he won't be Lord's of Shadow's Trevucard. I'm in.

Makes this story something to look forward to see. I prefer the pre-reboot games story.
I liked what LoS was going with on a thematic level, but a completely different series could've been used. I KINDA, wanna see SotN Alucard traits in the adaptation while being primarily the Dracula's Curse Alucard if possible for their use of the character.

These were four nice episodes, not what I expected from the characters. This season ends on a cliffhanger.

Well that was an excellent prelude, but really that's all it was. I want so much more of it. Loved the characterisation and the tone, Belmont was super reminiscent of Geralt (maybe a bit more charismatic) in fact the whole tone was Witchery
