Blood Souls, I mean, Bloodborne doesn't look interesting. Hated Demon Souls and didn't care for Dark Souls much (No, not because they were hard. I can handle hard things like my penis)

looks a lot more interesting than Demon Souls or Dark Souls to me, I had and still have zero interest in those games.

I'm actually considering getting this game.

Demon souls was a lot more fun then dark souls from what little i played of dark. It just felt more structured, i didn't like the open world thing in dark. This looks a lot more fast paced and honesty looks like the most interesting ps4 exclusive outside of infamous second son.

alright, got this 3 days early thanks to my awesome store.

haven't played a whole lot of it, but I like what I've played so far. Gameplay feels pretty solid to me. I have no reference to other games cause this is normally a genre I don't play, so I can't compare it to Dark Souls or something.

It's a game that really just throws you in and lets you figure out stuff, which from what I gather is about the same as Demon Souls or Dark Souls, and I'm not used to that, so I do feel a bit lost at the moment, and it'll take some time for me to get used to it, and get to know how all of this really works.

It does seem rather tough as well, I died at my first enemy encounter, but apparently you're supposed to die there anyways. So then you get transported to some sort of a hub I think, where you can buy/sell stuff, and you also get your first 2 weapons there. You can choose between 3 righthanded weapons, which are a saw, an axe and a scythe, and 2 left handed weapons which are guns, a pistol or a blunderbuss.

Anyways, you'll then go back to the place you died and get to fight that first monster again and I downed it in 2 strikes. So I made my way out of the mansion, and ended up going into the actual "city" we'll be playing in, and died on my first actual encounter there...

And that's about all I really played so far. But I'm having fun, the game feels good and I'm sure I'll get to grips with everything soon enough.

Obligatory haha noob post.

But yeah dying is pretty common in the souls series. I hope you went with obviously the most sensible choices the blunderbuss and the scythe, because class and badassery are more important here then practicality.

I thought the sawblade was a bit more badass to be honest Very Happy also went with the pistol I believe cause it had better stats than the blunderbuss, or the other way around, I forgot, haven't played today yet.

not far, I only played that bit I described yesterday, so I'm like, in the very beginning. I've spent half an hour just setting up a character. I've had maybe 4 actual battles so far. The rest was introduction and trying to find how to equip the weapons I got and all that.

I literally just entered "Yarnam" after getting out of the house, and I died at the first guy I thought I could take. Gonna continue my game a bit later on.

okay, so yeah, it's quite hard, I'm actually already a bit stuck to my shame. there's this section with lots of enemies grouped up, but near the end there's 2 gunmen and a dog, and they always get me, which makes me lose blood echoes (the currency of the game, which you get for defeating enemies, and you can buy stuff with it).

So yeah, in a bit of a pickle at the moment, so what I try to do now, is kill some guys, and then if I have quite some blood echoes, I go back to my safe hub and buy better gear, and hopefully that'll get me past them soon enough.

EDIT: maybe I picked the wrong kind of class for a beginner, I guess I can start over and do it again with a class that's better suited for beginners. I'm still very early in the game anyways.

And despite it being so hard, and me dieing a lot at the same part, it doesn't get frustrating somehow, it's like: okay, this isn't working, let's try a different approach. That said, I've looked up some of the classes, and I do feel I should change, I picked one that's more suitable for players who are familiar with Dark Souls, and people are advising me to go with another class for me to have an easier start.

Are you talking about the origins? There's essentially no difference past the first 30 minutes of the game.

yeah, origins indeed, they're advising me to go with one that has more Vitality than the one I have, should help me in not dieing/dying/whatever so much. as it essentially is still the first 30 minutes of the game I'm stuck in.

Dying. Dieing isn't a word, and you presumably don't mean dyeing. Though I suppose you could, I've not played Bloodborne.

Nah, deadifying is transitive, so it takes an object. You deadify enemies, for example.

Deadeding comes from the same root as deadifying: deading. All three are transitive. Are you maybe thinking of deathing? It's intransitive.

If it helps at all, the way I handled that big bonfire area was to get on higher ground on the right side, kill everything there, jump down and bumrush the gunner and dogs then take cover behind the carriage while all the other enemies come at me. Once they're all dead you can run up and kill the other gunner.

ha thanks, it always gets me confused because of the "dyeing", which i always think should be dying, so I'm like, wait how to I spell the thing that has to do with death then?

And thanks for the strategy tip Neo, I'll try that out.

so I did end up switching to lone survivor, it really helped me out a lot. I'v just unlocked my first shortcut that brings me back to the first lamp, so I don't have to keep going the same way now when I die.

So far, still really loving the game, I'm getting to know all of it a bit better as well. I wish there was a map though, cause now it's pretty much all memory to get you around, which I guess is not a bad thing really, but again, I'm not used to that.

haha, I guess so.

on another note, managed to get the first boss, Cleric Beast on my first try. I think i took a noob approach though, apparently you can just pretty much stand in between it's legs be pretty safe, i think I healed 5 times before I figured that out.
