So the five of you who don't know what this is. I'll cut to the chase.


Girls sleeps with multiple guys (Cheating on her boyfriend)
Guys calls her out
Girl sleeps with a bunch of journalist on gaming sites
Same journalist praise her games
Gamer call them crap
She tells them they're Misogynists
Gaming sites deleting and censoring comments
Gamer declare war on gaming sites, calling them corrupt.
#Gamergate goes into operation
All hell is loose

My opinion. Who gives a shit? Gaming Journalism will be the same, Zoe Quinn gets her 10 minutes of fame, and Phil Fish remains a fucking tool.

I've chosen to ignore the whole thing because it seems completely unimportant.

I have a hard time believing this. She got the review and got people to sleep with her while she looked like that I just don't get it.

I'm more interested on if Phil Fish will goto prison. It will give him incentive to make Fez 2.

Empirewild is the vile piece of shit human being that pollutes the gaming industry and results in people like Zoe Quinn and Anita Sarkeesian having to flee their houses because those fucking whores should leave our games alone.

The whole GamerGate thing was a set-up by 4chan. There is proof of IRC chats where instigators planned the whole thing to be a crazy feminazi/Social Justice Warrior attack on innocent gamers.

Obviously, Empirewild fell for it considering he's thinking Quinn was actually looking to be viciously attacked.

It is unfortunate that even though there is actual corruption in video game journalism it's impossible to talk about without being likened to bigots and idiots who send death threats.

Robert Florence's "Table of Doritos" article and the following controversy that ended with him leaving Eurogamer is a much better example.

You are right. No one should be sent death threats over this............well besides Phil Fish maybe. Anita and Zoe, as dumb as they are thinking ALL gamers are losers or misogynists, their lives shouldn't be harmed by stupid fucks from 4chan.

But the other side should be that Anita and Zoe don't need to defended. They have insulted, manipulated, and blame gamers for being these misogynists fucks who will insult women developers for being women, instead of making terrible games and making false labels. It's an insult for gamers who are actually calling her out for destroying the credibility.

It's kind of sad because we have perfectly great women in gaming who are shaping great things.

What about the greats like Roberta Williams (Co Founder of Apogee, which was 90s Valve), Jade Raymond (Ubisoft), Brenda Brathwaite (Wizardry) and a hell of lot more.

*sigh* Even Gamer Gate somehow does work, it'll only work to a certain extent. We'll still have reviewers paid off, we will still have reviewers will gaming that will appeal to only hits, while ignoring the small guys and obliterating the entire middle market, and much, MUCH more.

The moral of the story are people are stupid. Everyone thinks their opinion is important so BS like this ends up being talked about everywhere, when it can be summarised by stupid poeple did stupid shit.

Although I guess its the similar fascination with reality TV where just have to watch that train wreck up until the moment it crashes. Fact is the world would be a muc better place if people realised all these things are unimportant, the only opinion on video games that matters is the person who's playing the game and do your own fucking research and watch some gameplay videos.

The original article mentioned one journalist by name, which is what caused all the fuss. She wasn't accused of anything, but the article used her tweets about some Tomb Raider competition for journalists as an example of something that would make you question a writer's integrity. Her employer requested the article be amended to remove her name and any direct references, and there may or may not (probably may) have been legal threats.
