| Started reading the manga because while One Piece is on a break I've got nothing to read.
Firstly, I've known about Torkio for a while, I've just not read it because I do not get on with the art style. At all. I don't like the muscle-man style drawing, and I don't like the effeminate way some of the male characters (Sunny and Coco being the worst) are drawn facially. It doesn't have any of OP's charm.
Anyway, I've read up to around chapter thirty and I'm debating whether or not to continue. Toriko is a total Gary Stu. Seriously. So far he's overcome everything thrown at him with almost no real difficulty, and some of the injuries these guys can withstand without apparent ill effect are just ludicrous. Luffy got impaled by Croc. It almost killed him. A guy here gets his abdomen punched through by a robot and he gets up and carries on fighting. It's like there's no real risk to the fighting. The whole gourmet thing is getting perhaps a little vulgar, and I'm hoping things pick up soon.

| I hate how this dumb piece of shit is butting into the upcoming One Piece/DBZ crossover. | |

| It was incredibly bland and I didn't care for the boring characters. It tried too hard to be One Piece. | |

| Yeah, I can relate to that. It feels like I'm waiting for one of OPs flashbacks to flesh out the characters. Toriko is basically Goku / Luffy,( good natured, bastard strong, really likes his food), Tomatsu is just there, and even Coco and Sunny, strong as they are, are boring as hell.
Anyone else read this? | |

Anyone else read this? Yeah, I read the first volume but I don't know whether to keep reading or not. | |

| I read a 100 page preview or something in a Jump, and dropped it right there. Incredibly uninteresting. JoJo has better musclemen. One Piece and Dragonball have better strong, food loving characters. Tomatoes Haruka is a better Tomatsu, and she's not even a character. She doesn't even like manga that much. | |

| Toriko starts out just okay, but it gets better as it goes along. Toriko becomes much more likable, even though he hasn't completely gotten rid of his main character syndrome (as far as I am at least). Coco and Sani get much better and the last of the Heavenly Kings is pretty cool too. Komatsu drags the series down though. | |

| I like Toriko because the big man kills the big monsters and turns them into cool foods. | |
