| Just got back from seeing it. Good film but not worthy of some of the praise lavished on it. The bulk of the film is set here in Britain which means very little in the way of exotic locales and plenty of a rather grim looking London. Javier Bardem was also rather underwhelming as the villain. His performance was fine but the character just wasn't that threatening, and he goes out without any kind of particularly satisfying confrontation.
So yeah, good film, but no Casino Royale.

| I've never seen a Bond film all the way through. | |

| Been a while since I watched a Bond movie. I watched Goldeneye in 2009 or something. Definitely my favourite out of the old Bond movies. Do I have to watch Casino Royale and Quantam Of Solace to understand the story? | |

| Did Bond ever have a cohesive story over several movies? (I don't remember how Blofeld works in the movies)
No. Quantum of Solace is really bad, and Casino Royale (at least) has a very cool start. Don't remember anything else about it.
I kinda liked this, but I was pretty apprehensive when going in, and kind of stayed that way. At least it was fun for seeing London, and thinking "I was there a week ago!", but I could get that from any English film, so derp.

| I watched Casino Royale a couple of days ago in fact in preparation for this. It is rather good, but no man can watch a certain scene without dying a little inside. | |

I am now rapidly trying to remember the scene you're talking about.

Not quite, more like rope with a giant knot in it. Also I saw this today, I quite enjoyed it. It was about as good sa Casino Royale but on a different way.

| The new Casino Royale was a remake. There was already one made in 1967. | |

| The 60s Casino Royale was a largely satirical outing poking fun at the spy genre and Bond itself. It's not actually part of the Bond canon. | |
