It's on the UK store now? I'm going to buy it, saw some videos months ago on YouTube and it looks really interesting plus it's pretty cheap even though it was a full retail game in Japan.

Okay, the tutorial is quite longwinded but it covers everything.
There's a survival mode and chapter mode, which I assume just lets you replay certain things or it has extra things that unlock at some point, I dunno.
I had one attempt at survival with the Pomeranian (that and a deer are the starting animals), and died in the second generation from toxic poisoning. I learned a lot though. It's pretty much essential to follow the challenges the level gives you rather than run around doing whatever you want.
Anyway, the point is to survive and thrive. For the predators, such as the deadly Pomeranian, this means hunting, claiming territory, and mating. Hunting is a simple business. Get close enough to an animal without being seen and pounce. Eating fills your hunger bar, which is good because if the hunger bar drains you start losing health.
You can also fight other animals, but stealth kills are better. When it comes to mating, there's 3 kinds. Prime mates, average mates, and desperate mates. Avoid the desperate ones because they're all dirty and covered in fleas, plus you want a good mate to pass on good genes so your offspring are stronger than you, because once you mate the next generation starts and you play as the youngsters. Until they grow up and mate, and so on.
As an example, the first time I played I accidentally attracted a desperate mate. Couldn't find another mate so I had to settle for that. I ended up with fleas and two pups with barely any stat boosts. Second time around I found a better mate and got 4 pups with nice strong genes.
The size of the litter matters too, because you form a pack. They will follow you around and if you die control will transfer to one of the pack. You only get a game over if the whole family dies without breeding, and the goal is just to survive as long as possible.
As I said, there's various challenges along the way like claiming territory and fighting off rival animals. From the looks of the menu there's a hell of a lot of animals to unlock too, so it could be a very long lasting game.

I noticed dinosaurs in some videos, would buy the game just for that to be honest.
Do you know how the multiplayer works + if it's online?

I don't think there's any online multiplayer but there's definitely local multiplayer. No idea how it works.

Your stats get saved when you die, so when you start the next survival game with that animal you'll be stronger than before. So it will take multiple attempts to complete a stage.
It looks like there's about 45 animals to unlock and a few more as DLC. The pack that was free for Plus included 2 more Pomeranians (in case you didn't like the default brown one and wanted to play as a black or white one), a fat house cat, and a yorkshire terrier. The other DLC animals are a panda, a sabre-toothed tiger, a giraffe, a kangaroo, and a crocodile.
It looks like there's a decent range of big cats and wolves and a couple dinosaurs and even a wooly mammoth to unlock by playing the game. And a bunch of herbivores but who gives a shit about them.

This is one of those games you could play endlessly if you like it. Still haven't managed to survive longer than 40 years in one session. Tigers and alligators start appearing and I only have dogs and cats unlocked at the moment, so I can't really fight back. Extra animals are unlocked by completing gold challenges, which means either defeating a certain animal if you're a carnivore or chasing a certain animal if you're a herbivore.

One of the DLC species in Japan is the Salaryman, you have average across the board stats but you can't ever breed.
Japanese people are great when they make fun of themselves.

Caveman is another one. Apparently they start to appear after 100 years have passed in survival mode.

Okay, so the herbivores aren't completely boring. I had to take over the pig's territory to unlock the pig, and a war between pigs and gazelle's a pretty bizarre sight. Didn't even realise what the challenge meant at first because it was the first time a challenge like that had appeared. So I wandered into the area and all the pigs started attacking me. Most of my herd died right there but then I got proficient at kicking their little pink heads in and I got the territory in the end.

There aren't many cute little animals in the game, and you can always play as them if you don't want to go around killing them.

I saw a trailer for this earlier, someone was using a deer to fight a fucking velociraptor. How many games can say that?

I don't think I've lasted even 50 years. I either die trying to unlock the next animal, or successfully unlock the next animal and then just die on purpose to start playing as the next animal.

100 year Yorkie will be my bane when I get this. But I shall make it through.
