"Champloo" is such a stupid word that it always put me off.

Yea not sure what Champloo means but don't let that stop you. You can tell from the opening how ballin' this show is.

Chanpuru is a stir fry dish; so it's either a metaphor for Mugen's unorthodox fighting style or for the various different swordsmen that he and his companions encounter along the course of the show. But that doesn't really matter, since it's a very stylish and well done show that you won't forget a week after you watched it like most Japanese animation.

Chanpuru is also from Okinawa, like Mugen.

tried to watch on 3 separate occasions. Funny it seems like something I should like but I just find it boring.

How you can find it boring is beyond me.
It figures Mugen would be a pirate though. He's just way too bad ass.

I knew this episode was going to be amazing after reading the description on Netflix.
Episode 22 - Cosmic Collisions
Jin, Mugen and Fuu fall into the clutches of a hoard of rotting zombie treasure hunters. Next, they get blown to oblivion by an asteroid -- or maybe they just ate some bad shrooms.

I must be retarded since it took me 22 episodes to even notice that they were using alliteration for every title.

Perhaps.
Have you watched Cowboy Bebop? It's from the same director, and just as brilliant. It's about space bounty hunters who listen to jazz.
