Subject: Voice Actor of 2011: Troy Baker Sun Nov 13, 2011 6:30 pm
Chances are you may have played a video game at some point in the past year... if you have done so, you have heard this man's voice. He started out as a Funimation VA with not much to his name other than voicing Frank Archer in Fullmetal Alchemist. At some point along the way, he sort of split from being solely a Funi VA and sort of became an all around guy, he was not noteworthy though up until 2008 where he voiced Sol Badguy in Guilty Gear 2: Overture, Kanji Tatsumi in Persona 4, Jin Kariya (The filler vampire) in Bleach and some shmuck from Code Geass. At this point he was now just "That guy who did some voice acting in anime" and boy was he still a completely unnoteworthy VA since his forte seemed to just be assholes. He was largely pigeonholed into this archetype up until 2010 when he was finally being given far more significant roles int stuff that wasn't just anime. He voiced Snow in FFXIII, the main villain of Generator Rex (Not a popular show but hey, an American cartoon is a better way to gain note than anime), Yamato and Pain in Naruto and finally and a big curveball for the guy, Jetfire in Transformers where he plays against type magnificently.
2011 is the year of Troy Baker as the man has been in so many games this year it's absolutely ridiculous.
Vincent Brooks in Catherine Two-Face in Batman: Arkham City and Young Justice Booker DeWitt in Bioshock Infinite One of the voices for The Boss in Saints Row 3 Lord Valvatorez in Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten James in the Xbox 360/PS3 version of Silent Hill 2 Nova in Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3
So where Nolan North was the voice actor of 2008-2010 and Steve Blum preceded that, Troy Baker will now take the reins as the top voice actor for years to come most likely, especially since he's already got crap lined up for him in 2012.
Spoiler:
So yeah, there;s Troy Baker.

I knew Nova sounded familiar. I knew Troy Baker as Kariya and first and foremost Frank Archer.
Although David Kaye was supposed to do Two Face and would have done a better job IMO.

That guys good, i also really like Steve Blum, Nolan North and Liam O'Brian.
I don't think i can name many other VAs, obviously Mark Hamill and the guy who always voices batman are great to but i don't think they do much else voicework wise.

Mark Hamill does some stuff on Cartoon Network here and there but Kevin Conroy doesn't do much these days beyond reprise Batman here and there.
