American Dad

It's amazing that this show is actually funny while Family Guy is crap. Then again American Dad has a different writer and handlers. I'm currently on the Stan of Arabia episodes and it's great.

Yeah, American Dad is better than newer episodes of Family Guy, and the Cleveland Show. Maybe it's the lack of cutaways.

It helps a lot. The fact that the episodes actually have a story for the most part and not just constant cutaway gags helps a lot. It also doesn't rely on shock value for humor nearly as much and the characters are likeable for the most part.

Except Roger, he annoys the piss out of me but it's alright because Klaus' shenanigans more than make up for it.

It sucks.

By season 4 it's not so good.

The newest episode that I've seen was Stan and Rodger bet on who acts the best in a play.

Okay, caught up to Episode 96 and now to go in depth.

Stan is fucking ridiculous. There are times when I like and hate him at the same time but I mostly end up disliking him because he does not learn lessons. I know they played this for a joke earlier but now it's just fucking ridiculous how episodic shows have their characters retain the same personality to keep the status quo. Stan is really funny at times with the stuff he says and how he reacts to new stuff but when it comes to his children, it's really painful to try and watch interact with Steve because Steve is really fucking annoying and Haley is much better to see him deal with but still not by a lot. However I must admit, after he beat the hell out of Bullock the show seemed to have him be indifferent to Bullock instead of kissing his ass like before.

Francine is... she has no real personality, she's just Stan in female form. She's just as shallow as he is with absolutely ridiculous expectations and how she treats her family is just as bad. Whatever I said to Stan can pretty much apply to Francine too.

Steve is fucking obnoxious. Every last episode he is the center of is an episode that I don't want to watch. Mainly because every storyline he is in consists of him having ridiculously stupid stories that make no fucking sense. There's stuff like how he always tries to do stuff like use tons of fireworks to get a girl thinking it's smart, he attempts to scam a Jewish Boy at his birthday because said boy is dating his ex-Girlfriend and finally anything he does with Roger. Up to getting himself injured for blackmail, trying to do some dumb Buddy Cop characters and finally, trafficking cocaine. It's just ridiculously stupid sometimes.

Roger... I hate Roger. He's a character who is horribly annoying, boring, unrepetant and absolutely impossible to believe something like it exists. I know he's an alien but I don't think aliens could be this awful. He holds petty grudges, he tries to con his family out of money, he bitches and moans constantly and finally, he never learns a lesson either. But where it's somewhat funny with Stan, it's absolutely ridiculous with Roger. There was a whole episode spent on Roger being ignored because of his bitchiness and when he finally starts acting nice, he begins to die because his kind live through being bitchy.

Klaus is just a silly fish that's kind of fun. He rarely, if ever, gets a storyline and in any of those while he's somewhat stupid he's at least fun.
