Explodemon

This game got a trial in yesterday's update so I tried it out. Seems like a great little retro-style 2D platformer. You run around and explode. Explode to double jump, explode to speed up while running, explode to kill things, explode to break walls, and so on. Fun game. You collect stuff to make your explosions more powerful, and to make them recharge faster, and for buying new abilities and stuff. You know how it works.

It's actually got a fairly funny script as well, from what was in the first level, although Explodemon's Engrish gets old fast. Other characters talk normally though. I'll probably buy it tonight. £8, which is perfect.

The gameplay sounds similar to another game that came out not so long ago. What was it again...?

Splosion Man? Yeah, they're kind of similar. Splosion Man's gameplay and level design is a lot simpler though. It's more of a puzzle platformer, while this is more of an action platformer.

Loving this game. This and Tales from Space have put in a right platforming mood. I'm going to get Bionic Commando Rearmed once I've finished this.

Rearmed 1 or 2?
2 seemed absolutely shit compared to one. You should pick up Bionic commando its under a fiver and a pretty decent platformer, same with mirror's edge. Forgotten Sands is probably my favourite prince of persia game but you played sands of time more recently then me so maybe i'm giving more credit then it should get.

2 is too expensive. I'll get 1 and if 2 is on offer any time I'll probably pick it up.

I don't know what was different about 2 but it seemed to handle really shittily compared to 1.

Finished it. It's a brilliant little game. Genuinely funny as well. It feels like a SNES game with updated graphics. Got harder on the last world because acid doesn't care about the health bar and just kills you regardless.

Going back through to find everything now. The Explodicons are pointless as far as I can tell (but I still want them!), but the gold speed chargers are more important. Regular speed chargers only work in the level you collect them in, but gold ones are permanent, and will help greatly with speed runs.
