| It's been ages since I last saw this game. Now I shall finally play through this game and finish it! I'm loving the hilariously stiff voice acting.
Also, General Baal., lawl.

I completely agree with you. Thats the problem with english VAs they just don't know how to emote.

| Seriously though this is a PSX game with talking? Is there like a lot or just cutscenes. Most RPGs i played on PSX had hardly any talking, outside of cutscenes.
Also what kind of RPG does this play like?

| Yeah, sometimes it's silent, but it's not like there's only voice acting during rare pivotal cutscenes/FMVs or anything, it's still fairly frequent.
Outside of combat, it's your standard kind of JRPG, but the battle system is a little unique. I never got far into the game to see how deep it really is(as old fans claim) though, so I'm looking forward to some good stuff.

| I'm going to be playing this after I finish up my FFIX super run thu. Shouldn't be too much longer. It got great reviews and PSX rpgs are my favorite of any generation. Gonna do Xenogears and then Vagrant Story after that. Hopefully they will put Suikoden 2 up soon. | |

| Hopefully I can get Xenogears soon. Seeing as how it finally came out on the US PSN a few days back, I'd say it'll take 8 months or so before it pops up on the EU/AU PSN. | |

| I don't know what reminded me of the game and made me decide to download this rom, but that's what I'm doing now, will be playing the game soon
I have the CD's, but don't plan to get the PS1 out, and the emulator I have don't play CD's as it is supposed to be. I love img files

| I played Grandia on the Saturn around twelve years ago. To be honest, I never saw what all the fuss was about. It was a very competent RPG, but never really got it's claws into me the way I thought it would, partly because the story was utter guff. | |

| It was probably the battle system. Everyone seems to love that the most. | |

| "How retarded! No way you can pick your nose with such a fat stick!"
You know, for a lighthearted, happy go lucky game, I honestly didn't expect to see that little girl Sue to call something retarded casually.

| I love the saving point, the only game you recover in the saving point without using an item As far as the RPG's I played go | |

| There are a handful of others that do that too. One most recent example I can recall was that DBKai RPG on the DS. Made that game ridiculously easy. | |

| Got my second Mana Egg(used to buy spells). I used my first one on Sue and gave her Water so she can heal. Not sure what to use this second one for. Either fire/wind for some decent attack spells for Justin or Earth for Sue so she can also raise the defense up for the whole party. =P
I'll probably go with giving Sue Earth since there's another egg in the next dungeon.

| Wow, this game isn't as good as it felt when I first played it, I even remember Justin's mom better looking What is it with dubbing from Japanese to English giving cheesy voice acting most of the time? The game is still really fun to play, and I'm not usually a fan of RPG's General Baal, lol I love the three stooges squad leading ladies, that is one thing I really missed about playing the game | |

| Just started this last night as well. Reminds me alot of Wild Arms, but then again I think it's made by the same people. The combat is pretty fun but is there anyway to speed it up? I was under the impression it was gonna be extremely fast.
Also could you explain the weapon leveling system? How can I tell what I'm learning and what each weapon teaches or increases when it levels up?

Well, considering Japanese acting is cheesy 95% of the time, maybe they're just trying to emulate their assness. Dohoho. But seriously, most of the VAs in this game are just random nobodies from the looks of it, so it's no surprise most them voices actors are pretty meh. At least they're tolerable though. - Marky Mark wrote:

Each character can equip different kinds of weapons(for example, Justin has swords, maces and axes), the more you use one type, the more your skill with that type of weapon levels up and gets stronger. The same goes for magic once you start using them. As you level up your spells and weapons, you can get new moves and higher level magic. It's a pretty neat system, albeit a little tedious to grind(but when is grinding not tedious anyway).

| Alright I think I'm getting the hang of it but how can I tell what kind of weapon something is? Like the baton you find in the first area. Is that a mace? And how can I tell how long I have till a weapon levels up? | |

| I think in the menu, when you're equipping your weapons, there's symbols presenting what type of weapon they are. I dunno, regardless, it shouldn't be hard to tell what's what. Like the baton, which is obviously, as you suggest, a mace type. =P
Not sure if you can actually see how much experience you'll need till a weapon levels up or not, but in the Moves menu, you can check what level your weapon is at. It's good to differentiate between them so you can level them all up evenly to get a lot of techniques.

| Alright thanks man I got it. In the staus menu once it reaches 100 it levels up. | |

| There's a nice trick to leveling your water/heal spells early on too. Once you reach a place called Dom Ruins, there's traps near the entrance of the place. Let yourself get hurt by them a couple of times and then heal yourself. Once your MP is used up, go back to the nearby save point in the area and repeat the process. | |

| Once you start finding items called Mana Eggs, you can sell them for spells. Don't worry about that now, you'll get your first one after a boss later on. | |

| It's too bad there isn't any fighting in this game. The battle system and the weapon leveling is really cool and interesting but this game is boring as shit. I've been on this damn boat for like 2 hours. | |

| I think you're not doing something right. The boat part is really short, assuming you've reunited with Sue just do that mini-game of swabbing the deck like twice and then you'll move on. If you haven't run into her yet, just explore the ship, go into the 2nd class cabin and talk to some people, then head for the deck. | |
