For some reason or another he seems to have had a change of heart and is now battling against the aliens he was previously working with. He can be joined by a pal so that players can play cooperatively, both online and off. Unlike the Genesis Hard Corps, where we had four characters to choose from, here we just have two -- although Konami is looking into making additional downloadable characters available.

Hard Corps: Uprising
Gameplay is straight up what you would expect from Contra. You'll be running left to right through eight alien-infested stages blasting everything in your way, collecting familiar power-ups, and riding vehicles. One sequence I saw had Bahamut riding a motorbike while a flying saucer with legs chased after him. The boss of level one is, appropriately, a giant wall much like in the original Contra.

Arc System Works, that of BlazBlue and Guilty Gear fame, is developing Hard Corps -- which explains the new anime art style. Although it's a slight departure for the series I rather like it and it still undeniably looks like Contra.

Contra games are typically brutally difficult affairs where one bullet puts you in the grave. Hard Corps sticks to this tradition with its Arcade Mode, but also introduces a new Rising Mode. Rising lets you take three hits before losing a life, making for a considerably more forgiving game.

Hard Corps is set for a winter 2010 release.

If this is anything like the original, I am never going to play another game for....until I rage quit and play something else. XD But seriously, Damn, This is fucking awesome!

It's release date is just "Winter 2010". But it's "TBA" on GameFAQs.

Decided to jump into Arcade mode first, Got fucking raped within a minute. So I jump over to Uprising Mode (aka, You can earn points to buy shit to make yourself more over-powered than your enemy, Though you can still get killed easily if you're either a dumbass who doesn't learn from his mistakes or just fucking careless.)

Best Purchase of the month, Even better than Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. (Another game I got before I got this.)

So, Yeah, Imma try again in a bit and totally fuck shit up as Sayuri this time instead of Bahamut.

Well, I've beaten it three times now. Once with all the available characters I have. (Bahamut, Krystal, & Sayuri)

Gonna pick up the other two (or three depending on if the third character's released by then.) and beat it with them too. So far, I'm having the most fun in Rising Mode. But once I get the game's various patterns down pat, I'll give Arcade Mode a go. Especially as Leviathan once I get him. (He only has one health bar and one weapon slot.)

is this as hard as the old school ones?

Yes, But there is a pattern to the game. Once you have them down, The game is easier, But it's still a Contra game. It just lacks the name. XD

the difference between bahamut and what's her face are pretty clear when you unlock more stuff. they both have upgrades that allow them to start with different weapons
