But yeah, I have no idea what prompted them to change the buttons around. You can still dash into a running landing if press both buttons at once, but it's a bit cumbersome.

This is why all games needs custom controls.

If it ain't broke don't fix it, is most appropriate here, the controls for protoype were perfect, bar maybe a bit of tightness. I was genuinely impressed with the originals interface and button layout, i only wanted improved frame rates and slightly better mission structure even the activities were fun.

This really picked up towards the end, when it finally became about hunting down Mercer and stopped being about Blackwatch or saving a city that I didn't give a shit about. Better final battle than the first game too.

Yeah, the final fight was pretty awesome - Heller's defiance finally making you root for him a bit, rather than thinking he's just a potty-mouthed brute.

I really enjoyed the game, and while I can see all the myriad individual improvements over P1 I don't think that P2 will be remembered as fondly. I still find Heller a good chunk more repulsive than I ever did Zeus, so I spent the game with an anti-hero I don't like, chasing a guy I used to think was pretty cool but is now a total dick, in a city I couldn't give a toss about.

There's no emotional investment in P2, whereas in P1 at least you thought that Mercer was a victim for the most part.

P2 was an oddity; technically it is the superior game, but I still have very fond memories of P1 whereas P2 was merely a fun distraction from better titles.

Started playing, finished the hospital mission, and here's what I think of this start:

  • Cinematics being all black & white can be annoying
  • I prefer the voice of Alex in the first game, he sounds here like a younger Al Pacino, sort of
  • Animation is notably slower than the first game, I miss the fast action
  • More details than the first game, I respect that
  • The grab button puts the held thing/character down softly is a feature I wanted in the first game, glad it was inserted here
  • Shortly after the start Mercer makes Heller sees things his way? "Murder Your Maker" appears to be wasted advertising
  • Gliding not being an upgrade is a plus


I feel the first is more fun, love it more than this one

Every time i try to put someone down gently they end up being splatted against a wall, no clue how you're putting them down.

I stand by what i said in the first game the controls were perfect, the changes for this are really bugging me. I really hate teh new jump system I don't feel like i'm jumping very far, ,Heller seems freaking slow I don't like him already and mercer's voice seems different so i don't really like him either. The air dash and glide seem to not be doing what i want to, every button seems to do both which means I just kinda end up doing nothing. Also is it just me or does glide make you feel like you're dropping pretty much at the same speed.

Anyway gonna play this in a bit haven't unlocked any abilities. If i don't ever like the controls finishing this trading in for lollipop and at a later date will rebuy the first, althought secretly hoping it pops up on instant game collection.

Yes. Mash square or hold square. Then when you get a second power that gets assigned to triangle, and you can mash triangle or hold triangle.

You could do awesome attacks with tendril in first this one you can only have one attack string for everything. Can't believe they overlooked better control options.

Also the leveling system in this is really shit compared to the first, its just locking you out in another way its arbitrary there's nothing clever about it. Wouldn't bother mentioning that but the way they talked about it in previews is disappointing.

Game is fun, but doesn't seem to do anything better then the first, i' only really upgrading locomotion because heller is fucking slow.

Alright i platted this, my comments:

- Gameplay simplified and way too easy eliminating a lot of fun, you basically can do what you want without ever worrying, whoever made heller being completely bulletproof something in the final game is stupid. Sidemissions being part of main story was a good idea, radnet is a terrible idea, as it was basically a collection of the worst missions from the first game.
- dual powers are cool, but eliminating moves available with each weapon is a terrible idea.
- no grappling options... why did they remove this
- giving people the option to see who is seeing someone then making a cutscene for grabbing people telling you people are watching so you can't do it = most pointless thing ever
- helicopters only available end game by the time you don't need them... again horrible
- making alex mercer a complete dick, does not make heller likeable, he was pretty much as big a dick as alex, possibly more cause i couldn't even understand why he did anything he did, i.e. treating people who help him like shit, or acting like he is a god
- lastly why the fuck did alex not use his armour power, it was a sensible choice
- controls are worse in this game then the first i made a lot more alerts for retarded stuff in this one i.e. randomly grabbing a car when trying to stealth kill a soldier. The jump/glide/air dash crap in this is awful you basically only get comfortable with controls end game, but i think thats mainly due to how short hellers jump is before that its way too awkward to control with new system.

I never used the vehicles outside of missions that forced it. I always just jumped on them and destroyed them (which is the only thing I thought was missing from the first game).
