The quality of traditional/drawn animation is no different than it was from the old days.

The only things that have improved are the quality of the art and the tools to help produce things quicker that were otherwise a complete chore to produce back then. But at its very core, 2D animation is timeless, it doesn't improve or decline in quality through any amount of years. It's only as good as the budget and the skills of the animators are at the end of the day.
