And it hit me that in every family sitcom like this one. All the woman have a snappy comeback at the ready everytime the men say or do something stupid.

They deserve the comebacks, because sitcom wives are always inexplicably paired up with a fat, moronic slob of a husband.

Except in the King of the Hill where the roles are reversed and Peggy is the spouse that always need to learn a lesson.

Tim Allen in Home Improvement fat?
This guy whom I can't remember the name of.
The father in Half and Half isn't fat or moronic. George Lopez may be moronic but not fat slob. I'm sure there's more.

Women in sitcoms are always bitches, because if they're written to be not incredibly clever or overtly independent, the show will get a sexism lawsuit.

Family Matters was more about Urkel.

It was at first a show about the whole family in the beginning, but steve's popularity made the show directly focused on him, which basically was reasons why some of the cast quit.
The show was a great show,,until that BS Sci-fi with Urkel becoming Stefan Urkele, And other characters. The show IMO basically lost the basis on why it was created...for family.
