| I have been a fan of Hayao Miyazaki since seeing "Castle in the Sky" on TV in the UK ages ago. I subsequently bought a Japanese DVD of that movie which to my mind, has a superior English Audio Track to the American release (OK, I prefer to not have subtitles on... I am lazy). Later I bought the Japanese DVD of "My Neighbor Totoro" due to the only other release available at the time being the American Full Screen one. "Howl's Moving Castle" I bought on Japanese DVD because it was available sooner. I have now got most of Hayao Miyazaki's and the other Studio Ghibli releases.
Series on DVD... I have "Disgaea" and "Daphne in the Brilliant Blue" (which I want to watch again). | have a "Sailor Moon" set but it has been so long since I looked at it I am not even sure what it consists of! I bought it from someone off a Forum.
Other movies on DVD consist of "Akira" (inevitably), "Cowboy Bebop: The Movie", "Perfect Blue", "Ghost in the Shell" and "Metropolis".
Can they all be legitimately classed as Anime?

| It was made in Japan, so it's anime.
And nice to see a Miyazaki fan.

| I have yet to see "Ponyo" and there is one of the older Studio Ghibli movies that recently got a UK release this year, called "Ocean Waves", though not Miyazaki's work.
I also bought "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" soon after it was released, which I forgot in my first post.
I suppose the "accepted" Anime style of characters is not always portrayed in some of the Studio Ghibli movies, which led to my topic question.
I do also have the American "Castle in the Sky" release with the "big name" voice cast, hence my comment about the audio track on my Japanese DVD.

| You should really watch Ponyo! Have you seen Kiki's Delivery Service? If not, go watch it! It is great. | |

| I bought the three "big" American releases when they first came out. "Castle in the Sky", "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Spirited Away". Those three plus my three Japanese imports ("Castle in the Sky"" cost me a ridiculous amount of money to import from CD Japan) are my imports. I bought all the other titles in the Studio Ghibli Collection released in the UK. I do rather like "Kiki's Delivery Service" though I think "Castle in the Sky" is my favourite. I was even able to get the soundtrack for that movie from someone on a Forum that was selling it.
I'll probably buy "Ponyo" when the price drops a little more".
I watched "The Cat Returns" again the other day, mainly because it was on the free movie channel.

| The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is the only anime to ever put me on the verge on tears. | |

| Having nothing else worth watching over lunch, I re-viewed (as opposed to reviewed!) "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time". I do like that movie. A fairly laid back story. Not one for the action fans. I suppose another movie of a similar if not more laid back type would be the Studio Ghibli (and no, it wasn't a Hayao Miyazaki movie) release "Only Yesterday". May have to search that one out for watching again! | |

| I have started watching "Daphne in the Brilliant Blue" again. It can't be that long since I bought and saw the series, but I am enjoying it just as much second time around. Caught the first DVD's worth of episodes so far (four). | |

| Anime=Animation from Japan. Can also be called cartoon.
It's really that simple.
