Firstly, sounds like Flemeth narrating. Make of that what you will. Secondly, don't much like the look of Hawke. Hopefully we'll have some freedom to customise how he looks, even if we can't choose his origin. I know you can't always gauge gameplay from cutscenes, but it looks like you'll still have a choice between swordplay and magic, (though I guess that isn't unexpected) and I liked the dragon's grip thing at the end.

Yes, it's confirmed that Hawke will be customizable.

"That's because droids don't pull peoples' arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookies are known to do that."
HAWKE IS A WOOKIE, I TELL YOU! O___O
Jokes aside, though, I've been hanging out on the Bioware Social forums and have been seeing some pretty interesting theories on some of the various elements. There seem to be subtle hints that the new Golems of Aggramak (or however you spell it) may actually be canon and it seems that the DA2 version of Flemeth is holding the same kind of staff that a mysterious army seems to be using...

I know IGN gets a lot of flak, sometimes justifiably, but they did a DA2 hands on a few days ago. Flemeth is confirmed as making an appearance, and the combat has allegedly been polished up considerably.

I'm really happy with how this is turning out, I was worried that Bioware had compromised the tactical aspects in favour of a pure-ARPG thing but it looks like they've kept and improved everything.

Even though I'll miss my Elves, I think I'll grow to love Hawke...Assuming he can actually top everything The Warden-Commander does in the first game.

I'm gonna try out the PC demo but I've already cancelled my pre-order. To be blunt the game looks worse than DA1 in almost every way, the Origins were the best part of DA and they're gone, the overall visual quality has gone down the toilet and they're putting more emphasis on player romances, something I really don't give a fuck about.

So after playing the demo I'm happy with my decision.
'Tactical' combat is still an option but it's not needed at all, unlike DA:O it feels like you can just mash your face on the keyboard/controller and the enemies will die. It honestly feels like I'm playing WoW.
The (PC) controls aren't as good as they were in DA1 although I have a feeling it will be better on consoles as they were obviously the priority for this game unlike DA:O which was good on all platforms. The dialogue system is basically the one from Mass Effect 2 and while that's not a bad thing I much prefer the system from the first game. Also there aren't any mod tools.
While it's not bad it just doesn't seem to be as good as Origins - I'll wait for The Witcher 2.

Honestly, I think you're miles off. The graphics are leaps and bounds above DA:O's, and while they're not quite up to ME2s there's no way they're worse than DA:O's in any aspect. The demo wasn't helped by being set in the smouldering remains of the outskirts of Lothering either, and the town you visit was way too dark to appreciate properly.
Anyway, I quite liked it. My pre-order is staying.

Only one thing irked me.
The ME2 demo allowed you to customize your character, This demo didn't. So I hesitantly played as default "I have a beard" Hawke. -_-
The mage class seems ...decent, But I'm just used to the way they handled in DA:O.

It's really not that great, Lothering isn't supposed to be in the middle of Mordor but it certainly looked like it in the demo. The graphics, even on the characters who are far more detailed than the environment (which looks absolutely terrible), are far below par for a 2011 game by a big-budget studio. See:
Spoiler:
If the rest of the game made up for it I wouldn't really care but it just doesn't feel like Bioware have put as much effort into the product as they should have.

Thing is, DA:O's graphics were pretty poor. The character models were mediocre, and the texturing and detailing on the environments, armour etc was bordering on being downright bad. In fact, for the first hour I thought DA:O was terrible; the combination of 2006-esque visuals and rather clunky old fashioned combat making me regret even renting it. A week and forty hours later, I'd seen passed all the negative stuff to the flawed gem underneath.
Point is, I loved DA:O despite the crappy graphics, and DA2s are much better than that. Besides, it's Bioware They simply don't make bad games.
Come to think of it though, you're comparison to Mordor is a pretty good one, and I'm certain the sense of sparseness must be deliberate, even if it doesn't make for great eye candy. I'm sure we'll see far more detailed environments later in the game.

Is that how long you rented it or you invested like 200hours + into it?

Initially I rented it for a week. Played it lots, so yes I clocked up forty hours in a week. Then I bought it and played it a shit load more. In total I'm probably at around one hundred and fifty - two hundred hours.

Uh i dunno if this games for me i'll see if the demo interests me I doubt, this would be anywhere near as appealing to me as ME2, although i might pick up all these games at a later date when fuck all is being released.

I didn't bother with the Anders one, but were the other two really that cringe-worthy? Neither were particularly natural granted, but they were far from being downright horrible.

The Anders one is by far the worst but none of them are good. The dialogue is pretty poor and the VA is almost emotionless.

Hawke's VA was a bit lifeless, but the other's were ok.

Is it gay if I sat through the whole Anders one and didn't finish the rest?
