| What do you guys think of their games? How many of there games have you played? If you haven't played them why not?
I think all their games are awesome. Absolutely loved Elder scrolls and i'm loving fallout 3 and will defintiely be getting new vegas (or was that outsourced) either way its based off of their game. This is the direction I hope all RPGs start taking a completely non linear world with full exploration and hideouts which have nothing to do with anything. Actions which actually have consequences in these games is also fun.

| They make nice 'worlds' but their stories are a tad weak and the voice acting/animation annoys me. That said I've had a lot of fun with Oblivion and Fallout 3 and I'm looking forward to a potential fifth Elder Scrolls game.
You're right about New Vegas by the way, Obsidian is making the game using the Fallout 3 code as a base. If you ask me it looks a lot better, thanks in no small part to some of the original Fallout devs now working for Obsidian.

| Oblivion and Fallout 3 have been fun, but not what I feel is "enduring". I feel that they round out to an average score in my books. | |

What do you mean exactly, i'm surised you think they're average i thought you thorughly enjoyed their games only second to bioware.

| I obviously can't answer for Kima but I find that they generally need mods to keep being interesting once you hit a certain point. There are also truckloads of bugs and glitches that can potentially break the game. I have a lot of fun playing the games but when it comes to deciding whether they're exellent or just good/great the above can make a big difference. | |

What do you mean exactly, i'm surised you think they're average i thought you thorughly enjoyed their games only second to bioware. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy sandboxes as much as the next guy. Even so, I prefer concrete stories even more. If one can combine a good story with a decent amount of freedom (like Bioware does), that's great. However, Oblivion and Fallout 3, while having their strong points with a few sidequests (like the Dark Brotherhood and The Pitt respectively), they fall short in story overall; this, in turn, results in an eventual lack of interest. That's why I said they round out to an average score in my books... and by that, I mean they're fun stand-bys but not strong favourites.

Considering you like borderlands its probably worth a shot. - Skip wrote:

Aside from the levelling system they are very similar. Main differences being that oblivion has a world which is very much alive (you feel like your running around in a Lord of the rings movie), the impression i get is there is also a lot more missions, but the ones in fallout 3 seem longer.

I think the difference in setting is what puts Oblivionabove Fallout 3 for me. Oblivion's world is alive, Fallout's by comparison just looks dull. I know there's a lot out there, but it's so visually unappealing.

| After playing Oblivion for a long while, I was constantly amazed at how much beautiful scenery and characters there was, and how tightly packed, compared to Fallout, but Fallout always was more immersive and exciting for me. | |

Also you could get through a considerable amount of this game with talking alone and that was another thing that impressed me. The dungeon concepts in fallout seem a bit crappy as your basically forced to wander in what feels like copy pasted subway systems. Although the number of enemies in the areas generally relieve the monotony. Alsostrangely the VATS system never gets old and i thorughly enjoy it.

| VATS can also be really helpful in finding and taking inventory of enemies from afar. | |

How so? If I get bored running around the wasteland, I randomly spam R2, which opens VATS, and often shows Raiders in the distance doing everyday things. If there are more, I shift the target, and I can see where they are and what weapons they have.
