Made by the devs of the first game.

I loved the first two games, but I'm not convinced that a third game is a particularly good idea and that trailer does little to persuade me otherwise.

It doesn't appear to be a sequel or anything. Just the same concept in a different setting.

Exactly why it fails to excite.

I think it looks decent, although I'd prefer they got a new group of people together and made System Shock 3. Having a city full of relatively normal, living people will be interesting and 'Icarus' has always been a theme of sorts within Bioshock so it's interesting to see them take it a bit further.
The first two were set in a heavily stylised underwater city. In terms of story telling and game design they're both brilliant. Both cheap now as well.

Not exactly sure how to describe it but it looks like its trying to be a different game to what it is. If that makes any sense.
Games like Deus Ex and fallout didn't try to hide there RPGness. Whereas this looks like a game trying to blend the two, but the world doesn't look like i'd be as free as i'd like to be in this game. Admittedly thats a lot of what i felt towards bioshock in general and maybe this game will step up and add more, but i can say i'm not particularly excited.
TL;DR i get the impression its a FPS trying to be story based but its still just a FPS just with frills on and the combat doesn't look all that exciting.

So are you complaining that it's trying to hide the fact that it's an RPG-shooter, or are you complaining because it's trying to hide the fact that it's a standard shooter?

This game....I honestly don't know what to say about it. Which is why I'll just let you watch this 14min demo instead:
I know it's really early, but I'm calling it now.

No chance, Black Ops 2 will come out in 2012.

Call of Duty can go fuck a duck for all I care.
It's nice to see so much originality put into this game. Makes me wanna go back and play the first one again.

Prototype 2, Anarchy Reigns, Yakuza 5 all interest me more.

I'm still hoping for a gem in the form of Mass Effect 3.

You have no idea how much I want that game to be good. Bioware (EA) are just making so many shitty choices of late (extensive romance options for jedi in a star wars mmo what the FUCK) I can't let myself get too hyped.
