This is what we Western audiences got...
And the Japanese got... this.

How did we get jipped when they're the ones who got the inferior opening theme?

He means that if we did it to ourself, it doesn't count.
That's a rule for other things too, btw.

I'm not saying the Japanese theme song is terrible in and of itself; what I am saying it doesn't suit the opening in the slightest.
It's like if a Lord of the Rings trailer dubbed over with a Lady Gaga song!

That's not a plus though. Putting in a pop song instead of an original composition for the game is actually even more lazy and lame than the song being crap itself. So that's double score for us.

What's worse is this game's original opening isn't even on THAT level of being out of the place. This is like "The Dark Knight's trailer with a Justin Bieber song" kind of bad.

Yeah, I suppose Americans that like games and don't know much about anime or other Japanese stuff wouldn't appreciate Japanese music. I know a lot of Americans scoff at music sung in a different language than English.

and unfortunately, those who don't scoff at it (or worse--actually have an interest in it) are ridiculed by everyone else.

Better, but the English orchestra is still the best.

Oy... NEITHER of those are good! The English track is repetative as hell and the Japanese singing is outright painful!

Thank god, this actually makes the game sound a bit more appealing. Lords know that backtracking in Symphonia was horribly annoying.

Not to mention how stupid and outdated seeing a world map like THAT on the last gen consoles was. DQVIII put that game's map to shame.

I'm perfectly fine with walking around a world that had nice scenery... Tales of Symphonia did not.
