- In today’s society, man is powerful – We can travel at 60 mph; we can fly; we can connect with just about anyone, anywhere, at anytime. But on the street, people pass by each other ignoring the wonderful existence of other beings. We are overwhelmed by the attention needed to gain and execute our own power – just like we are in most video games. While we are doing that, we can become isolated and insecure deep inside our mind.
On the contrary, when we are hiking in the wild, we become tiny and weak again. These feelings make every other person we encounter much more important and enjoyable. We greet them, giving them genuine and useful help. We might travel together for a period, learn from and rely on each other. Struggling against the dangerous nature together, somehow, makes us warm and powerful inside. (This doesn’t make any rational sense, but somehow that’s how I feel. And I’m sure many of us do.) While most video games offer the sense of empowerment in the online gaming experience, we felt the player will pay more attention to the other players if they are less distracted by the power, and the online gaming experience will be quite unique if it carries the feeling of awe towards the unknown.
In a world where the majority of the players are distracted by technology, evoking a sense of awe and mystery could be very refreshing and powerful. Journey is an upcoming downloadable game from the makers of Flower, apparently the multiplayer is unique in that all groups and partnerships with other players are temporary. You'll randomly meet other players as you play the game, if you choose to do so you can team up and explore/work towards objectives for as long as you like... unless you die or somehow fail to complete a task. You'll respawn somewhere completely different with no way to contact whoever you were with, creating a sort of hitchhiker experience. Not much info on it yet but I'm looking forward to it as I loved Flower. http://www.giantbomb.com/news/a-journey-to-thatgamecompanys-new-psn-game/2207/http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/06/17/introducing-thatgamecompanys-journey/

| Yeah, it's apparently kinda like Dark Souls except you can't game the system to match you with people you know. I'll tell you if it's as good as I've heard though. | |

| Every so often a game comes along that makes you rethink your stance on video games in general not being art yet, this one got me more involved in the story than most recent games have without using any text or speech.
It's pretty expensive at $15 for around 2-3 hours of playtime but Flower was like that too and it was still amazing. It made me feel emotions at times which is pretty impressive for a game because I usually laugh at the attempts to tug on heartstrings a lot of games have.

| Is it good? I've been wanting to try this cuz it looks really cool. Reminded me off ICO or SotC the way it looked like art/game. | |

| Yes. The gameplay is pretty simple in that you can run, jump and glide but it's more about the experience as a whole, despite how pretentious that sounds.
I think there's actually a demo now, maybe give that a shot?

Half a year later and I didn't give the demo a shot.
