| Disney is afraid boys won't see it if it's called Rapunzel, so they changed the name to something not so girlish. | |

| looks promising
this one is made purely by disney
the pixar studio ones are great but whoever makes the ones in the middle out of all these disney pixar ones needs to stop making films, i saw up and that was the most depressing and shitty kids film i've seen in my life
the general lingering of death in that film was grim and annoying, i'm pretty sure it included miscarriage and a funeral seriously, never watch it with kids adn the great tralier part wasn't even in the film
its growing hard to determine what pixar studios do these days i think they did ratatouille and since then toy story 3 is there next

| Ratatouille is old as fuck, like 2007. Wall-E was after that, followed by Up. | |

| I liked his score for The Incredibles and the music he did for Ratatouille was decent too. | |

before you read the rest keep in mind i now think of kids films with an eye as a parent as well now even though i'm not one yet death and miscarriages aren't the kinda things needed in a kids film russell was great but the rest of it was just bad I'm possibly being overly critical i'll admit, but i blame advertising the trailer here as hilarious and contained scenes not in the movie, to be sold as a comedy and then to deliver what i can only call an attempt at a heartwarming story seems dumb if this wasn't marketed to small children then i wouldn't have been as annoyed although even then it still isn't really my thing

| The death thing wasn't in anything past the first ten minutes and most kids won't get the miscarriage thing. I think you're underrating kids in that they can't deal with death. They didn't have a problem with Mufasa's death and they didn't have a problem with killing of the COMIC RELIEF HIMSELF in Princess and the Frog. | |

| Just a correction, at the beginning of the film, it wasn't a miscarriage, she was just infertile(too bad they never thought of adoption). | |

oh right, that makes the beginning actually not seem as bad now - Kaio wrote:

Actually thats a really good point about mufasa. Thing is with kids some can deal with it and others can't. I think what bothered me more so was that there was no real need to show the death at all. Couldn't of just started with the old man and had him think about his childhood and then catch up time. I mean the problem is possibly they executed the feeling in the beginning a bit too well, which made it just seem a bit depressing. Also i originally thought it was meant to be a miscarriage due to the lack of dialogue that combined with MC's wife's death just felt grim. I mean the beginning just seemed really weird like when that guy starts bleeding from being hit. I thought him being hit would be enough the blood seems s bit much (and yeah that completely sounds like an old woman), but violence has never really needed blood like that to emphasise it.

| They did otherwise people would have thought that scene was supposed to be funny. The blood was meant to emphasize how serious the result of him bashing that guy was and to shut the audience up at the same time for shits and giggles(because they were probably laughing). | |

| hopefully this is another classic
Sora is this made by the people who normally would make the disney animated feature films cause they seem to be using the classic story revisited thing that is common with disney?

| Some of them. What's neat is Alan Menken(who did the Disney Renaissance films' scores n' songs excluding Lion King, Mulan and Tarzan) is doing the score for it. | |

| No, he's right. All changing the name does is make it an unrecognizable property, and it stops having that built in tie to other Disney classics. Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty... thats instant credibility and history you can't buy. Being tossed aside for a title a third tier company would throw onto their bootleg copy of a movie because they couldn't use the real name. | |

| Blame the target audience, it's undeniable that Princess and the Frog wouldn't have had the disappointing sales it wound up getting if it was under a different title. Disney's just taking precautions because they know that young boys will stay clear from any title that emits zero testosterone... Although I really don't see how the title "Tangled" would help much... | |

| It WASN'T the NAME that gave Princess and the Frog trouble. It was the gap toothed redneck firefly telling fart jokes and showing the expanding butt in the commercials, making people think the entire movie was that. Really. 4 butt jokes in duration of a 30 second commercial don't help.
They didn't start showing off the scenery, colors, music, artistry or villain until after the movie had been out for three weeks. They were just advertising.. a fart joke movie. (And they ALSO gave away that Tiana turned into a frog when there's like 30 minutes of footage they could have used where she ISN'T...) That's what killed it.

| I''ll admit that changing the name can put some influence on sales but it's not like the name ultimately matters with how the movie will sell. | |

Well obviously. It's not like the title made the movie bomb or anything, it still made a profit. But that small amount of people that was influenced by the title would have added a slightly better box office return. DIsney knows this, that's why they wanted to make these precautions. They're greedy and they want the most a film can get.
