Super Street Fighter 4 first impressions

Only got to play this for about 30 mins os i can't comment too much

Firstly the new ultras are like way cooler, they also seemed to have weakened ryu's ultra which for anyone who played online would know was stupidly overpowered and easy to combo into
There's definitely been some fine tuning with balancing, I can't quite workout whats changed but something has and all round everyone feels better now (well the ones i tried)
Seth is like 10x harder now, he has characters from some of the new contenders and honestly this made him as unpredictable as fuck for me, I just ended up getting hit with shit that i didn't expect to happen
I think Combo timing has changed, either that or i need a new controller, as its been a while since i played the original SF4 i'm not sure if this one is slightly faster, but something definitely felt different
New characters add much needed variety, as the previous roster had some really good characters and some really bad ones, all the new additions seem to be mid ground or higher at least the ones i played with
Car bonus stage is a bit shit, I quite liked the barrel one, really there just there for nostalgia

Currently I see no sign of survival mode, not sure what i think of that, the trials have been improved as the difficulty curve on the ones in SF4 were kinda stupid

Most importantly vega has now got a much better 2nd ultra which i can hit ppl with a lot easier, which is a major+ for me
also some half circle ultras are in this game which i find to be the hardest button combination so that was kinda annoying for me

All round this is way better thne 4 thouogh
hell i'd have paid 20 pounds just for the new characters as an add on
the fact this is a standalone title makes it even better
if you like street fighter its a must buy
if you don't but you wanted sf4 but never got it this is well worth a look

I dunno, I just can't get into it. I can have fun just flailing around and throwing out ultimates, but I can't get to grips the core mechanics. I really don't understand how to defend, space, punish, etc in this game.

you have to play mind games, know how to cancel and use invincible frames to your advantage
i personally like to play with characters so i'm aware of what they do

also another classic mistake is only using hard attacks with occasional light
the mediums are pretty good

also look how the strength effects the move
in its most basica form it will make a move slower or shorter range, but it sometimes casuses height variations or a comletely different move

i guess ryu et al are probably the easiest to get to grips with unfortunately loads of ppl play with them so most ppl know how to deal with them

probably should just play someone like me i'm a fairly lazy player and i can't really be assed to do trials anyway

Ryu and pals don't really appeal to me. There's still about a quarter of the cast I haven't tried out, but I probably like Cody and Abel the most so far.

abel can be very lethal
only problem is he has issues dealing with fireballs

juri looks pretty awesome, adon might be worth checking out to
dudley is definitely decent as well out of the newer characters

dhalsim can be a very cool character to try out to, playing as him is totally differnt though as he is stupidly slow

seth and gouken i'd avoid until your more experienced
vega is absolutely shit, still my favourite, but he's bottom tier basically

i seen a lot of decent cammy players so she might be worth checking out to

I was really surprised but Makoto sucks in this game.
I hate Juri.
Hakan is too gimmicky. Fun character though.
I can't use Dudley for shit. I just suck with him.
Deejay = Black Guile but slightly better.

I hate juri but i think she has potential i think i'll give her more of a try

and yeah dudley seems good but he is a bit different, i think i could get good with him

hakan is well gimmicky and just awkward to fight with, I was really struggling with DJ i was way better with him on SFA3

and makota is seriously weird i can't get how i can use her

I enjoy using guy but damn hard to land some moves i.e. that powerbomb

overall i like the new batch of ppl and i think they add variety

T. Hawk was way better than I expected. He has nice speed and he does a lot of damage.
Cody I haven't really used. Same for Guy.
Adon is another character I fuck up with so I haven't really bothered with him either.

I'm enjoying the game even though I haven't really bothered with the new guys. I'll get around to playing more.

i'm just glad vega has been improved
he's still majorly nerfed compared to back in the day, but at least he feels a bit better now and his ultra is wasy better now

i'm definitely gonna have to try playing with adon and juri though
I did want to be good with guy but i don't see that happening anytime soon

strangely i get better connection with americans then guys in the uk
i assume most of the chimney sweeps around here have shitty connections
