I'm going to read Kick-Ass

Since the movie's out and I'm somewhat interested in it and the comic isn't very long, I decided to see how it is.

I just bought it, and I gotta say I really don't like Romita Jr's art style. He did the same thing in World War Hulk, and it just looks crappy.

The movie was good, the comic looks a lot different in custom wise, but it seems to follow the same story to a T almost

Watched the movie and read the book. I prefer the book on some points, and the movie in others. Best enjoyed separately.

Wouldn't argue with that. Big Daddy came across as a bigger bad ass in the film, and Katie was much softer and more forgiving. The biggest difference though was that the characters in the comic looked and felt somehow much younger than their film counterparts, Dave himself in particular looking no older than thirteen/fourteen.

I liked that Dave was more pro-active and more concerned with the morality of being a hero in the comic. He was the one urging Red Mist to go into the burning building, whereas in the film in the was the other way around.

He was also freaked out over Big Daddy and Hit-Girl's casual attitude to killing. Even having seen the film before reading the comic, it felt like the film was missing that concern about the moral high ground from Dave.

I prefer the structure of the plot in the film though. Big Daddy's motivation is neither here nor there for me. His revelation came late in the comic and didn't reveal have any impact on the plot. Felt kind of superfluous.

The jet pack was stupid, but overall I enjoyed the film more. Kick Ass kind of played second fiddle to Hit Girl for a lot of the film, while in the comic he was always the focus, but the film was just more entertaining.

I'd probably have enjoyed the comic a lot more had it been drawn by anyone other than Romita Jr. I despise his art style.
