I was playing Fallout 3 the other day when a song started playing on my Pipboy radio. This song was "Way Back Home" by Bob Crosby And The Bobcats. I decided to actually listen to the lyrics of this song (full lyrics can be found
here) and something about it triggered my need to overanalyze... so let's dig in!
The main dilema of the singer, so far as I can tell, is that he "Don't know why I left the homestead / I really must confess". Throughout the rest of the song, he lists off a large number of traits applicable to his hometown.
And from what I gather, he had a LOT of good reasons!
- Quote :
- The roads are the dustiest
The gates are the rustiest
1) Deplorable structural maintainence of the neighbourhood.
- Quote :
- The dogs are the yappiest
The bells are the ringiest
The pigs are the snootiest
The owls are the hootiest
2) Noise pollution, particularly by local wildlife.
- Quote :
- The winds are the gustiest
The sun's the blaziest
3) Extremely harsh weather conditions.
- Quote :
- The kids are the scrappiest
4) Unruly and undisciplined local youth.
- Quote :
- The days are the nappiest
The help's the laziest
5) Do I REALLY need to elaborate on this one? It's likely the root problem behind Points 1 and 4!
Trust me, Mr. Singer... regardless of the other factors, you are definately better off out of there!
