Raiden was alright in MGS2. His biggest problem being the developers making him seem like such a douche when it came to Snake considering he did VR training based on Snake's adventures. Like, how could he not recognize him?
Other than that, Rose is the biggest problem. I cannot tell you how much I hate that woman. "Oh there's like 20 guards trying to ice my ass but yeah, let's talk about that day, honey!" Gah! She was the problem, not Raiden. But yeah, Snake in any incarnation > Raiden. It was like Kojima was thinking before MGS4, "People hated him in MGS2 and that hurt my feelings, so I'm going to go over board and make him a major bad ass so people like him now!" Raiden was too cool in MGS4. It was was just obvious. Kojima tried to pull a Dante, but with cybernetic ninja crap, and it failed. | |

| That wasn't him. Twas Raikov, and the only thing good about MGS4 Raiden were his badass moves, his personality was destroyed, and he was just some brooding little bitch.
Did he kick ass? Yes.
Was it worth destroying his overall character? No.
