I'm sure it could be. There's at least 1 other Spider-Man movie that already is.

ASM was okay and this already looks better just from the increase in quality of the animations and the focus on the Osborns vs Parkers. Also Rhino being hit with a manhole cover owns.

Well, at least it isn't BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMM.

That'll probably be Electro's or Rhino's "theme" though.

Honestly, so long as the soundtrack isn't painfully dissonant and monotonous, I don't really mind what the hell he'll do anymore. At this point, It'll be shocking just to see new work of his that isn't harsh, repetitive and bland.

A small part of me does hope for the best, though. One of the reasons as to why Mark Webb wanted Horner for the first one was because he wanted music that's traditional and melodic. Perhaps he'll slap some sense into Zimmer and get him to crawl out his comfort zone for a change. The short excerpt for the website already sounds a bit less dull and generic than his Batman and MoS stuff, albeit a tad on the repetitive side.

I don't really like Electro's look but this film looks like it could turn out awesome. Ironically I was just streaming Spider-Man for PS1 and I think the villain mashup is going to be something similar to those two PS1 games.

Hilariously, part of Electro's material turned out to be something much, much worse than the overplayed horn of doom. It's this really harsh Dubstep-esque noise.

Still, excluding the blatant commercialization with all those lousy songs at the end of it, the soundtrack actually isn't as bad as his previous superhero works. It's nowhere near anything outstanding, but there is some variety to it and it has a few decent cues. One action piece even manages to not be the same old generic, dissonant music from his other scores. Also, while that whole Dubstep half of Electro's music is pretty damn grating, his other material involving eerie whispers/chanting and sinister orchestrations(some of it heard in the trailers) is a bit more interesting and tolerable. I think more could have been done with that while ditching the harsher Dubstep sound altogether. The best material is comprised of the heroic cues for Spidey himself, which were a lot less stupidly simple than his main themes for Batsy and Supes. There's an actual sense of bravado to his theme and it even has a few understated and playful variants for Peter's civilian life, just as Horner had done the same before Zimmer.

All in all, it's not a great soundtrack, but it's not entirely bland and flat out terrible either. I think one could manage to axe some of the more cruddy material and edit a listenable, enjoyable suite out of the good stuff.

Hope the film will be just as surprising. Been hearing some negative stuff and how it suffers a bit of SM3-itous with all the villains.

They've definitely overdone it with all the trailers and commercials. I haven't even seen all of them and I can already piece together the entire movie.

Both in how spoilerific they are and just the sheer number of them. It's ridonkulous.

It's shocking how not too long ago, I was itchin' just to see any kind of footage for the film. Time flies.

I've sort of accidentally missed the trailers for the most part, I guess that's good since I don't know half of the movie.

I wonder if they'll unfire Shailene Woodley now that Divergent is a hit.

Spoiler:

FREAKIN' A! Okay, maybe not. More like freakin' B-ish, but hey, at least Ghost Denis Leary turned out to actually be a thing in the movie. Sort of.

Anyway, saw the film today. It's leagues better than the first installment, and it wasn't as terribly disjointed as I feared when all those comments started surfacing about how it shared similar issues with SM3. There are a few drawbacks due to the two major antagonists sharing the spot-light, but it didn't feel as if there were too many plot threads fighting for the spotlight this time around. Story-wise, it was much more tighter than Spidey 3.

Spoiler:

One complaint that I've been noticing in regards to Electro is his motivations and how weak they are, which I don't entirely agree with. While he isn't a particularly complex character, the film firmly establishes that this guy is mentally unbalanced. He's not just a Spidey fanboy as the trailers showed, he's a flipping loon. Tired of feeling insignificant and going unnoticed every day, and lashing out against the city after suffering such a drastic transformation is putting it lightly. This isn't just some random social outcast being a negative nancy. It's someone with a screw loose losing even more screws. I don't understand how this was lost on some people considering how blatant his instability was.

All in all:

Pros:
- A much more stronger and interesting storyline than its predecessor.
- Garfield and Stone are still pretty likeable and share such a good chemistry together.
- Decent antagonists that don't devolve into one-note villains like Conners did post-lizard transformation(although Electro does almost lean towards that near the end of the film, the reasoning that helps Harry coax Max into forming their partnership shown in the trailers retains some of his dimensionality).
-
Spoiler:

Cons:
- Despite the action scenes being really well done and choreographed, some could have benefitted from being a tad longer(especially the final fight).
- While Max's character was well established prior to his transformation into Electro, it wouldn't have hurt to have given him a bit more interactions/screen time. It just feels slightly rushed.

My biggest problem with this movie was cutaways to Aunt May and the planes during the final action sequence. Electro cuts the power so there's no guidance for the planes and oh no they're going to colide! But it's two random planes with zero established characters on them and no connection to any established characters, and no one else in the movie even knows about these planes. It's not like Electro threatens that the planes will collide and Spider-Man is trying to save them. It's just two planes that almost collide but Spider-Man gets the power back on in time so they don't.

And Aunt May is working in the hospital but the power goes out, so... They just work without power for a bit. And then it comes back on. Yay. Really bad and obvious filler. Especially when it's Aunt May, who I liked in this movie. She had a great scene talking about Peter's parents, and she definitely knows he's Spider-Man but she's just waiting for him to say it first. I almost wouldn't have minded if she had some interesting filler, but those scenes are totally pointless.

Apart from that though I really liked it, and I'm being serious, I think it's better than The Winter Soldier.

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure that in the next film, when Spider-Man can't get to Vulture high in the air, those pilots will have found out it was thanks to Spidey and that random girl's efforts that they survived that day, and will line rows of jumbo jets to make a pathway for our webcrawler to get to him.

I actually want to see that happen now.
