recommend me some "classic" movies

cause it's that time again where I feel the need to update my movie library.


so yeah, name me any movies in any genre what you consider to be a classic. and with classic I mean, a good movie you think everyone should have seen or has to see.

I'll give a couple that are already on the list so you know which ones you don't need to mention:

Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
The Big Lebowski
Forrest Gump
Natural Born Killers


I feel like I need to get some Schwarzenegger films too, cause I love the guy, but I don't know what I should go for.. also, don't mention any Tarantino films cause I already have all of those

You need to see Platoon so you can appreciate Charlie Scheen fully, American History X is something everyone needs to see, everything Mark Wahlburg is in and anything the Coen brothers direct. There are just so many it's hard to think of them off the top of my head.

Another great Arny movie mostly for the one liners is Commando.

was thinking about the Coen Brothers (got the big lebowski on the list already) but I haven't seen too many of their other older films, I was thinking about Fargo but I don't know if it's any good..

Buu, how the hell could you suggest Die Hard 1 and 2 but not 3? 3 is much better than 2.

1 > 3 = 4 >>>> 2

Still haven't seen the 4th one.

Because die hard 2 was ahead of its time, 3 is the worst entry in the series. 2 was also the only film that had a clever plot out of the original 3 films. Also one of the best twists around at the time as films didn't really have twists back then.

*insert reason why Samuel L. Jackson just shouting and screaming in every film is not funny or good acting*

Also Jackson's best bit of acting was in Goodfellas, second best performance Deep Blue Sea.

I'm guessing you watched it late 90s as you suck, it was way ahead of its time, I remember seeing it when i was a kid fucking awesome film, nothing was like it at its time probably my 2nd most watched film ever.

Doesn't stop it being better then vengeance which was never good.

The ending is messy but other than that it's good.

It seems like a really contrived reason to connect the first and third films. There's no returning cast. Jeremy Irons doesn't seem to give much of a shit about alan rickman. They try mirroring bad guys i.e. lets make the big german guy fight in this similar to big german guy fight in first one. Buddy system with a token black guy not able to fill the shows of black cop in the first one or even limo driver, the fact was though John's a lone wolf this isnt lethal weapon we don't need an odd couple mechanic.

Films like this reek of trying to relive the glory days. Alot of people just like Jackson shouting or freaking out. Fight sequences are poor shooting sequences honestly i can't even remember one. Its a pale imitation of what was a great film series, 4 does a remarkable job of getting back on track.

Do i think its a bad film certainly not its actually pretty good. Is it a good die hard film certainly not. Weakest film in the series by a long shot.

Die Hard 2 actually has debatedly the best shoot out of the series, with the first films contender being the computer room.

Die Hard 2 isn't a good Die Hard film either. It wasn't even supposed to be a Die Hard film.

Neither was Die Hard 3. It was written as a thriller called Simon Says or something, and then script got bought and turned into a Die Hard film.

It isn't that out of place in the series. Either way its a great film.
